Milan go into the big Derby della Madonnina knowing that a win would see them open up a four point lead over their rivals Inter and a seven point lead over 5th placed AS Roma. This is the time for the Rossoneri to seize the opportunity to put themselves in prime position to guarantee Champions League football for next year and help put Milan back on the right track.

The predicted lineup is the familiar starting lineup that Gennaro Gattuso seems to have settled on after the January transfer window acquisitions of Krzysztof Piatek and Lucas Paquetà. The midfield three have been especially dominant, with Tiémoué Bakayoko shining brightly as the defensive shield for the back four and Franck Kessie has played the box-to-box midfielder role excellently.

This should be a big test for Milan, as Inter will likely still be without their star striker Mauro Icardi. Icardi burned Milan in the reverse fixture back in October, and while Lautaro Martinez has talent, this Milan defense has been rock solid and it will take something extremely special to beat them.

In the end, Milan should win this match, but don’t be surprised if it ends as a 1-1 or 0-0 draw, as both teams will be fighting for both Champions League places and city bragging rights.
