AC Milan has had a torrid time with injuries this season, with significant players missing a significant amount of time. Mattia Caldara, one of the big off-season acquisitions, hasn’t made a single appearance in Serie A, Alessio Romagnoli, and Mateo Musacchio have seen time on the bench, and the midfield has been a shambles at times, with Giacomo Bonaventura, Lucas Biglia, and Suso all missing time. It even got so bad at one point that Davide Calabria was drafted into midfield.

So many Milan fans held their breath during Tuesday’s Coppa Italia match, Franck Kessie was forced to leave the match because of injury.

It now appears, however, that Kessie is just fine and will be available for Saturday’s match against Sassuolo.

Reports say that the Ivorian midfielder only suffered a slight knock, and while the clash resulted in a painful bruise, he’s otherwise fine and he was subbed off only as a precaution.

Those are good words to hear, as Milan need a fully fit squad in order to keep in the Champions League spots. The midfield trio of Kessie, Lucas Paquetà, and Tiémoué Bakayoko have been brilliant since January, and are a large part of the reason that Milan haven’t lost since Christmas.

The difference in play on Tuesday night from before Kessie was subbed off and after he left the match was extremely noticeable, so it will be a relief to see Kessie in the lineup this weekend.
