In a high scoring thriller Milan looked in control

This week AC Milan looked to continue their winning ways as they faced Bologna. They continued with the same starting lineup that has seemingly been working in recent weeks. The first few minutes of the match were fairly open but Milan looked to be the more dangerous side as many players looked to be on top of their game. Just fifteen minutes in Piatek ran into the box and was taken down by a Bologna defender, penalty for Milan. Piatek stepped up to the spot and banged the ball into the back of the net. Again Milan continued to look like they were in control and in the 32nd minute Suso found Theo Hernandez who buried it in the back of the net. Things were going good for Milan but as Milan fans know these days, good things don't last and Bologna scored off of a corner. Going into half Milan were up 2-1.

Milan came out hot again and just one minute into the half as Jack Bonaventura hit the ball beautifully to beat the Bologna keeper. It was 3-1 for Milan, could Milan hold on? To me it looked like Milan started to die off as the game went on. At times they looked very shaky at the back and late this cost them. In the 84th minute Bologna were given a penalty and made no mistake by capitalizing on their chance. Thankfully Milan held on and secured the three points in a 3-2 victory.

Now we shall look at the player ratings for AC Milan!

STARTING LINE-UP

Gianluigi Donnarumma: Not a ton to do for Gigio in this match. He did what he had to do when his number was called on. Both of the Bologna goals were not his fault as he did all he could to try and make the save. 6.5/10

Andrea Conti: Conti has steadily improved as he has been given more chances by coach Stefano Pioli. He has gotten better defensicley as he has not been a reliability on the right side. Still I would like him to improve on his balls inside the box. 6.5/10

Matteo Musacchio: Musacchio has again been put into the starting lineup because Duarte had sustained an injury. Musacchio played fine as he usually does but like his defensive compatriots they looked shaky near the end of the match. 6/10

Alessio Romagnoli: Romagnoli like Musacchio had a fine game but in my opinion he wasn't his usual brick wall self. The defence was probably the weakest link in the whole squad which was surprising. Near the end it seemed like they would concede and give up their lead. 6/10

Theo Hernandez: Theo giveth and Theo taketh. Theo seems to be a scoring machine for Milan as he scored two in this match. One goal against Bologna and one goal for Bologna. Theo continues to be Milan’s best player and he is vital to their attack. 7/10

Franck Kessie: After not watching Milan for a few weeks, I was surprised that Franck Kessie actually played well today. He looked more comfortable on the ball and even made some good passes that created some chances for Milan. 6.5/10

Ismael Bennacer: Bennacer over Biglia is one of the best moves Pioli has made since becoming the coach. Bennacer is a dynamic player as he can win balls defensively and dribble out of any pressure created by the opposing teams press. 6.5/10

Jack Bonaventura: It is great to see Jack playing well and man is he ever vital to this team. His link up play with the others players is so fluid and his goal was spectacular. After the goal Jack celebrated with the fans, a Milanista through and through. 7/10

Suso: We didn't see the classic Suso ball in this match but he did have an impact. Suso assisted the goal by Theo Hernandez and created a few chances for Milan. Thankfully Milan do not have to rely solely on Suso for creativity. 6.5/10

Krzysztof Piatek: So I've been critical of Piatek since the start of the season cause he has been extremely bad. However he did improve a touch in this match. He wasn’t amazing but he was better then what he’s been. I still believe that Milan are in need of some reinforcements up front. 6/10

Hakan Calhanoglu: Calhanoglu has improved his play but I still don't want him to be our starting left winger. He is a fine rotational player but isn't starting quality for this team. 6/10

SUBSTITUTES

Lucas Bilglia: Biglia substitution wasn't as good as Bennacer but he did what he had to do. Solid off the bench player. 5.5/10

Lucas Paqueta: Paqueta came on but I didn't really notice him as he didn't make much of an impact. With Jack playing so well I would be surprised if Lucas got more minutes. 5.5/10

Samu Castillejo: N/A
