Football Italia reported earlier today that the Lega Serie A CEO is defending his move to change the positioning of microphones to avoid them picking up racist chants to be heard by the television audience. Black players in Serie A has been terribly abused and face racist chants often which could be easily heard on the television stream. This move would surely attempt to minimise the obviousness of the chants by excluding audiences at home from clearly hearing it thus being able to confirm and call out racism.

He said in defence, “What we were doing was considering how TV coverage can best explain the beauty of Italian football. We do that continually and the basic idea is to avoid dwelling on ugly incidents.”
