Stefano Pioli is officially the new coach at AC Milan as announced by the club website. The former Fiorentina and Inter Milan boss will take over the reigns at Milanello following the firing of Marco Giampaolo after only seven games in charge. Pioli has already received lots of negative sentiment as the fans took to twitter to express their discontent with the #PioliOut hashtag trending worldwide yesterday. The manager comes to Milan with a record finish at 7th place, a career win percentage of about 37% and a history of being fired after about a year.
Nico Schira is reporting that the Italian manager will sign a two-year contract worth €2.5 million - €1 million in the first year and €1.5 in the second year - and there are huge bonuses related to Champions League qualification. Corriere della Sera via Milan News are reporting that there exists a clause (a gentleman's agreement) in Pioli's contract that would see a mutual termination of contract if he does not achieve European football at the end of the season cutting his contract down to about 8 months.
