The search for a winger continues for AC Milan.

The latest rumor has Milan looking to Ligue 1 and a raid on Nice for Allan Saint-Maximin, a U21 France international who has impressed this season. However, it’s being reported that a deal cannot be done before the transfer window closes, meaning that if this move is to happen, it will have to be in the summer instead.

The 21 year-old Saint-Maximin has had a good season for Nice this year, scoring five goals and registering three assists in 19 league appearances. The winger was signed by Nice from Monaco, where he had spent time on loan at SC Bastia and also was loaned to Hannover 96 in the Bundesliga. He started his career at Saint Etienne, which is a lot of movement for a player that will only turn 22 in March.

This season has been a break-out season for Saint-Maximin, as he scored five goals and got nine assists in 40 appearances in all competitions last season, including coming off the bench in two matches for Monaco before his switch to Nice.

The rumored price of €35 million seems, well, crazy as well. A player that has bounced around the fringes of first team action at a few different clubs and finally has found a home in Nice and has one decent and half a good season in Ligue 1?

Listen, Leonardo hasn’t made many missteps yet, and if he’s really interested in Saint-Maximin, then whatever, all faith in him. However, this late “interest” from Milan almost seems timed by an agent in order to get a player a new contract.

Then again, 21 year-old wingers who have proven to be able to score goals don’t grow on trees, so perhaps this deal is more than just hot air, but don’t be surprised if nothing happens from it.
