Milan identify Genoa star Krzysztof Piatek as the ideal replacement for Higuain

As Gonzalo Higuain’s future is in doubt, AC Milan reportedly plans to sign Piatek as soon as possible.

Krzysztof Piatek is having one of the best seasons in his career. This season, he’s scored 13 goals in 18 Serie A starts. Being the second highest scorer in the league this season, the Pole has attracted interest from clubs all over Europe. Genoa are looking to keep hold of their star striker as AC Milan are considering a swoop for the 23-year-old. Milan’s sporting director, Leonardo, is looking to sign Piatek as Gonzalo Higuain’s future is in doubt.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri could sign Piatek in January. This is the striker’s first ever season in Italy and he needed no time to adjust. His great form and his young age makes him the ideal replacement for Higuain. Piatek is currently in the peak of his career, Milan need to sign him as soon as possible as they face competition from Europe’s elite in the race for his signature.

Piatek is attracting interest from top clubs all over Europe.

Gonzalo Higuain isn’t in bad form, though he isn’t in good form either. Scoring six goals in 15 Serie A appearances, the Argentine is having trouble adjusting to life in Milan. The player is reportedly unhappy and is pushing for a move to Chelsea. The English side has contacted Juventus over a deal for the striker, both clubs haven’t yet agreed on the terms of the deal. Higuain wants to reunite with Maurizio Sarri, as they worked together at Napoli. The AC Milan management is unsure about the former Real Madrid man’s future at the club. Even Gennaro Gattuso has his doubts about the forward staying at the club. A move departure is likely for the 31-year-old, though nothing is certain at the moment.

AC Milan need a great striker to fill the boots of Higuain if he leaves the club. Piatek is a great player, the world has witnessed his great skill. The price of the operation is unknown, though the fee for the deal isn’t expected to be cheap. Leonardo and the Milan management will try their very best to bring a replacement worthy to wear the number nine shirt for AC Milan.
