Donnarumma made a remarkable save in the first half to deny Zielinski and remarked after the game to Rai Sport that, “I did tell Zielinski after the game that he can’t keep scoring past me,” referring to the two goals that Donnarumma surrendered to Zielinski in Napoli’s come-from-behind win over Milan last month.
Milan’s Giacomo Bonaventura also made it into the match in the second half, but it was Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa that won the penalty that lead to Italy’s only goal.
Italy will face Portugal in Lisbon on Monday night.
