It’s been years since AC Milan had their last real goalscorer. Many strikers came and went in the club and most failed to make an impact on the team, but Milan have finally found someone who they can fully rely on.
Gonzalo Higuain is arguably the best striker Milan had since their last Scudetto win, back in 2011. Since a few years, players like Luiz Adriano, Carlos Bacca, Jeremy Menez, Mattia Destro, Andre Silva, and Nikola Kalinic have been given the responsibility to fill in the goalscorer position. All of them failed to make a huge impact.
Higuain finally got Milan what they needed. The Argentine is one of the best in his position, his stats with Juventus prove that he can be relied on anytime. He is not only a goalscorer, but an all round player. He has a very strong technical ability, he can dribble and it’s hard to take the ball off him.
Last season, Cutrone was the man that bolstered the attack. He was able to bag in 18 goals in all competitons, as well as giving 6 assists. Although the youngster is very important to the Milan squad, he isn’t nearly as good as Higuain.
The 20-year-old is only a goal scorer, with most of his goals coming from inside the box. Higuain can score from anywhere and can do anything, anytime the team need him. He will have a very big impact on the whole squad.
His equalizer against Cagliari and winner against Dudelange proves that this is just the beginning of his season. He is expected to be one of the top scorers in the league, and even in Europe.
Now with Milan’s striker problem solved, the team can excel very quickly with the former Real Madrid forward leading the line. Calhanoglu and Suso will also have a part to play in the journey, and if they can all link up properly, big things can be expected from the trio.
