It appears that AC Milan have made yet another signing in the summer transfer window, as various news outlets are reporting that Milan have landed the signature of Villarreal’s star winger, Samu Castillejo.

The deal is reportedly a €3 million loan-deal with an obligation to buy next summer at €15 million, and it also reportedly includes Carlos Bacca.

Castillejo had a breakout season for Villarreal last season, scoring six goals and registering six assists for the Yellow Submarine in 38 total appearances. He’s only 23 years old, and is a rising star, not unlike the other Spanish winger at Milan, Suso.

He’d been linked this weekend to Milan, as Carlos Bacca wanted a return to Villarreal, where he had scored 18 goals last season. It was rumored that no deal involving Bacca would be able to land Castillejo, but it appears that negotiations ended up turning the tide.

Bacca had also been linked with a move to Sporting Clube de Portugal, and perhaps a potential deal to send Bacca to Portugal was enough leverage to get a deal done with the La Liga side that are looking at another European season and an attempt to reach the Champions League.

Milan have now landed another winger, which was sorely needed. This also means that Hakan Çalhanoğlu can move into a more central role in the midfield, where he flourished at Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga before making the switch last summer to Milan.

Castillejo joins Gonzalo Hiquain, and Mattia Caldara as high-profile acquisitions this transfer window, with a loan move for Cheslea’s Tiémoué Bakayoko also nearing completion. This is great news for all Milan fans, as another high-profile deal looks to be completed.
