AC Milan may be one step closer to adding 27-year-old striker Simone Zaza from Valencia as Nikola Kalinic heads out the door. According to Gazzetto Dello Sport, via Football Italia, Zaza is on the verge of a move to the San Siro, with Nikola Kalinic headed to Atletico Madrid.

The Rossoneri have been looking to offload Kalinic as he comes off a rough first season at the club, and have been looking at Zaza, who scored 13 goals for Valencia last season, to take his place. However, Milan needed to sell Kalinic before they could bring in Zaza. With a deal reportedly being agreed for Kalinic to head to Atletico on a loan with an option to buy, which becomes an obligation after a certain number of appearances, Milan are in the clear to bring in Zaza to boost the attack.

According to reports, Zaza has already agreed to a deal worth €2.5m per season for four years, and Valencia could accept an offer of a loan with an obligation to buy for €20 million.

The Italian International would take Kalinic’s place in the striking rotation alongside Patrick Cutrone and Andre Silva. Zaza has previously played for Sassuolo in 2013-2015 and Juventus from 2015-2016, before being loaned to West Ham for the 2016 season. He left the Premier League Club in January 2017 to go to Valencia on loan before he was bought outright for €20 million.
