It’s that time of year where the new jerseys for the upcoming year start to be leaked and we all get to see what AC Milan will be trotting out in 2018/2019.
This week, thanks to the site Footyheadlines.com we got a first look at all three shirts.
The Classic

When something is iconic most of the time your job is to not mess it up. In this case, Puma did a fabulous job on their first go at the famous red and black jersey. They added a collar for the first time in a few years and kept it classic with clean bold red and black lines. I’m always skeptical when a new company takes over that they are going to mess with old faithful, Puma didn't and that was the right move.
The Confusing

The away jersey is white as usual with no collar and a black paintbrush line across the chest and arms. This is one of the least interesting designs for a Milan away jersey I have seen. I don't know what they were going for here, but for me, it misses the mark. I would rather have gotten all white or something outside the box, but this just doesn't work for me.
The Cookie Cutter

Finally, we see the third jersey Milan will wear sparingly during the next season. To me, this was the by far the most disappointing of the jerseys for next year. The Third jersey is where you take the risk, where you should pay homage to the club in a creative way and Puma did none of that. Instead, Puma gave us a weak cookie cutter design that has some interesting shoulders and that is it. Puma gave Arsenal the same jersey just different colors, so they couldn't be much more boring or lazy.
Overall, it is a decent debut job by Puma hopefully in the future we can keep getting great home jerseys and they do something that incorporates Milan’s history.
We should be classic and bold with our jerseys because Milan, while in a rough patch, is anything but cookie cutter.
