AC Milan are reportedly very pleased with the progress Gennaro Gattuso has shown with the Rossoneri since taking over earlier in the season. Despite exiting the Europa League in questionable fashion to Arsenal, the team has had an immense 2018 which has translated to a nice boost in the Serie A standings.
Everyone with the gift of sight can recognize the change of attitude and demeanor among the Milanisti since Rino has been at the helm. The squad has publicly given him all of their support and continue to prove that sentiment with their actions on the pitch.
Gattuso is not a man to suppress or hide his emotion or passion. He oozes love for the beautiful game and for the red and black. From telling reporters AC Milan is not “Brad Pitt, we’re ugly”, to letting his players slap him in victory following a match, Gattuso is not your typical coach. Then again, he wasn’t your typical manager. He played the same way he coaches. With aggression and passion intertwined into something far more terrifyingly satisfying.
Few expected Rino to go further than the current season. He was a place holder, possibly even an experiment. The complete opposite to former manager, Vincenzo Montella. Yet the run of form has silenced even the harshest of critics, with fans and media embracing the man as a leader, and someone who we can trust with the future of the club. Football Italia and several other sources are claiming an announcement for the extension is imminent.
In his pre-match press conference, Gennaro had some thoughts on a potential contract extension:
“I am not even thinking about that,” he said, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. “There’s no problem, I am focused on my work and the directors know where to find me. I must continue my work, convince the players they are strong and get them to live day by day. These lads are a gift, they give me their all and believe in what I say.”
