Milan reportedly looking to sign Chelsea’s Gary Cahill as defensive options are cut short.

New, comment

AC Milan is dealing with a serious injury crisis, causing them to evaluate other defensive options.

AC Milan are running out of defensive options, especially center-backs. Alessio Romagnoli, Mattia Caldara, and Mateo Musacchio are all injured. This leaves the club with only two available center-backs, Cristian Zapata and Stefan Simic. A new defender is needed urgently as the club is struggling to stay in a Champions League spot.

Gary Cahill is known to be a great defender, though he is aging. Maurizio Sarri isn’t a fan of the defender, dropping him to the bench. This season, the Englishman only appeared once in the Premier League, clearly out favored. Reports claim he is growing unhappy in Chelsea and could want a move outside.

AC Milan need someone urgently. They have two options, either sign him for a cheap price in January, or wait until the summer to sign him on a free transfer. It is likely Milan will go for the free option considering the financial situation at the club, either way Cahill would be a great signing. The 32-year-old has a 76% Premier League tackle success rate, as well as 27 career league goals. The Rossoneri need someone experienced to lead the defensive line, many options were shortlisted and Cahill seems to be one of the best options.

Cahill is very experienced and talented.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Milan will try their best to sign him in January for a very cheap price. The former Bolton Wanderers man has a market value of only €10 million. As Cahill isn’t in Sarri’s plans, the fee could be very low and easy to match. He will certainly boost the defense, especially when the club is dealing with a situation like this.

Gary Cahill is experienced and talented. He used to be one of the best in the world and is still a world class defender. He can guide the defense and help them excel in every single game.
