Paolo Scaroni gave an interview with Gazetta dello Sport, and he had some interesting things to say about the Champions League goal and how Milan could go about promoting the club around the world.
Paolo Scaroni says #ACMilan’s business plan ‘isn’t based on qualifying for the #ChampionsLeague this season’ & ‘I don’t even have Antonio Conte’s number’ https://t.co/1Z9zzCcVus #UEFA #FFP pic.twitter.com/7vTYjsKDnQ— footballitalia (@footballitalia) November 16, 2018
We must look to the East and America because for us to bring great champions here, everything goes through a global audience
Milan could have an advantage: they’re the Italian club with the highest number of fans on the planet.
We don’t want to stay being old gentlemen who remember old glories. We want to return to excellent economic and sporting levels.
However, it is next season. If we didn’t qualify for it then, we’d need a plan B.
Scaroni is right that the global “brand” of Milan is probably the biggest of all of the Italian clubs in the world, thanks to Champions League glory from the 2000s. And if Milan are to be able to compete with Juventus and the other “big” clubs in Italy, they’ll have to build up commercial income from abroad. Of course, qualifying for the Champions League has to happen soon as well.
