After dominating Austria Wien on the banks of the Danube in the middle of last week and resisting the surprising force of Udinese on the weekend, AC Milan capped off a dream week with another three points against recently promoted SPAL.
It took Milan a while to get their feet under them - and they needed to wait for an intervention to take the lead as they were afforded a penalty after a foul within the confines of the SPAL goalmouth. Ricardo Rodriguez stepped up and buried from the spot to take Milan to the lead on the brink of half-time.
Despite Milan’s lack of attacking prowess within the first half - they certainly took the game to SPAL. With 13 shots and over 60 percent of the ball, Milan weren’t giving SPAL room to breath. That being said, SPAL are still a fine team, even when on the back foot.
Milan continued their dominance into the second half and didn't fall prey to a SPAL lockdown. Despite this, they still failed to score from open play, relying on a Franck Kessie penalty, Milan's second of the night, to double thier lead and secure victory.
Certainly, with this result, Milan have set the right course and are back on track once more.
