In a short few hours (1pm CET), AC Milan will find out their UEFA Europa League opposition in a live draw taking place on UEFA.com. This team will stand between Milan and the group stage proper of the UEFA Europa League this season.
Because of Milan’s finish in Serie A, they entered the 3rd round of this year’s Europa League Qualifiers where they drew Craiova in Romania. Milan got the job done by beating Craiova 1-0 in Severin before in finishing the job back home in Italy.
Now, they have to beat another team over two legs to get into the meat of the tournament. Milan will be seeded and avoid a bunch of challenging teams, but that doesn’t mean that a tough match doesn’t await. Plenty of giants have met their end in the playoff.
Milan will be placed in pot 1. This means they will avoid plenty of other seeded teams across the tournament. Dynamo Kyiv, Krasnodar, Club Brugge and Austria Wien will not play Milan right now. However, the unseeded teams lined up for Milan still present quite a task.
Milan could play Portugal’s Marítimo in a pretty tricky tie. AEK Athens from Greece are in line as well. Crvena zvezda might be a tricky one as well. Shkëndija would be the safe bet (but nothing is a given, we saw Bordeaux get battered last night) and Osijek would be a good team to play as well.
That being said, nothing should be taken for granted. The first leg will be played on the 17th of August, with a return leg taking place on the 24th.
