*UPDATE: Milan drew CS CRAIOVA
In a short few hours (1pm CET), AC Milan will find out their UEFA Europa League opposition in a live draw taking place on UEFA.com.
Because of Milan’s finish in Serie A, they will enter the 3rd round of this year’s Europa League Qualifiers. They must beat their opposition over two legs, before beating another team in a playoff to enter the group stages of the Europa League. A bit of a more challenging path awaits Milan.
Milan, however have been seeded in their pot - meaning they will avoid Bordeaux, Maccabi Tel-Aviv (or KR Reykjavík), Galatasary (or Östersunds), Hajduk Split (or Levski Sofia) and Haugesund (or Lech Poznan). The seeding system has been fairly favourable to Milan, but who could they play? Well - they must face an unseeded team.
Craiova, Kalju or Videoton, Inter Baki, Ir Fola Esch, Valletta or Utrecht, Panionios or Gorica & Brøndby or VPS Vaasa are the teams that Milan could play. They may want to avoid a draw that takes them to Azerbaijan or Estonia, which could be a difficult away fixture. Videoton could be a tricky tie - but all in all, it seems very favourable to Milan.
That being said, nothing should be taken for granted. The first leg will be played on the 27th of July, with a return leg taking place on the 3rd of August.
