With Bacca likely to leave, who’s going to replace him?

With the summer transfer window getting closer and closer the rumors regarding the new AC Milan owners’ moves to build a competitive team keep showing up. We’ve already reported that the Rossoneri reached an agreement with Villarreal’s Mateo Musacchio and showed interest in a strong midfielder like Atalanta’s Franck Kessié, but what about the offense?

As reported many times during the month of April, it looks like Carlos Bacca will be leaving at the end of the season, especially if Vincenzo Montella is still in charge, so they need to find someone to replace him. For that reason, the new recruitment duo of Fassone-Mirabelli are searching for a reliable forward with strength, speed and skills in order to play in the middle of a three-men offensive line. They’ve been scouting a lot of profiles, but they’ve shown interest especially in two players: Fiorentina’s Nikola Kalinic and Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Both Kalinic and Morata are really expensive options, but considering that the RSIL group is planning to spend €100-150 million this summer, they might be more realistic targets than previously thought. It looks like the 24-year-old Spaniard would be the best option in terms of physicality, speed and also age, but they would be both great additions. However, they signed long-term deals with their respective clubs and it would be difficult to convince them to come to Milan, so the Rossoneri might need to think about a third option.

That option is Ajax’s Kasper Dolberg. The 20-year-old Dutch striker is playing amazingly this season, scoring 14 times in Eredivisie and 5 times in Europa League in 38 appearances, and he might be exactly the player Milan need. He’s tall (listed as 1.87 m, approximately 6’ 2"), quick, skilled and really young, which is what makes him an even more interesting target than Morata and Kalinic. He’s not even too expensive, since his asking price is around 30 million euros, but it could be lowered to €20-25 million during the negotiations.

The summer calciomercato is near and good things might happen for the Rossoneri!
