If you were expecting Milan to finish off their season on a high - you’d be wrong. If you were expecting Milan to head to Sardinia and defeat Cagliari on their own patch, you’d be mistake.
After today, it is clear that the season for the Rossoneri ended last week with a victory over Bologna that sent AC Milan into the Europa League for next season. With a loss, Milan would not fall, with a win - they would not rise.
As for Cagliari? They wanted to finish off strong - and they did with a 2-1 win over Milan. It was clear that Milan were dozing off - they didn’t look much of a threat and their only goal came through a Lapadula penalty - despite this game being rather end to end.
It was Cagliari’s Fabio Pisacane that stole the show, as he closed the curtain at the Sardinia side’s stadium - Stadio Sant'Elia - with a placed finish after Donnarumma palmed a late Joao Pedro free-kick at his feet. Of course, Paletta was sent off.
Once again, Milan couldn’t finish a single shot - something that will need rectifying should they want to build on this season.
