After 13 years with Milan, Gennaro Gattuso is returning to the club where he carved out his legend. Tomorrow, should all go well, Gattuso will be named as the manager of Milan's Primavera team.
Gattuso recently left a troubled Pisa side, who despite his best efforts were relegated from Serie B. Gattuso led Pisa to promotion, but his foundation of a solid defense was not enough to stop his team leaning back into Serie C.
Don't be fooled though. Gattuso's stint at Pisa did nothing to damage his reputation. In fact, it only helped boost his stock as he managed to keep them defending well despite a lack of talent and resources.
And now? He will attempt to build on his experience by mentoring Milan's reserve and youth talent with the Primavera side. A step up? Not necessarily, but it is a heavy hint that Gattuso could be the man to succeed Vincenzo Montella at AC Milan if the former Milan man can impress with the youth team!
