We’ll see.

The fires of social media were stoked yesterday when #BelottiMilan started trending on Twitter. Milan fans went wild at the rumors that Andrea Belotti, Torino’s star striker, could be making his way to AC Milan. Edited pics floated around the net and fans got hyped.

But not so fast - before you get excited, one of the leading figures in any move or transfer regarding Belotti; Il Toro Director Gianluca Petrachi said that Torino would only sell Belotti to a top club. Not only that, Petrachi namechecked Milan and said that the Rossoneri couldn’t afford Belotti, who would command a fee that approaches a world record transfer fee.

Andrea Belotti can move to a club outside of Italy for a fee of €100 million. Milan would need to bid in that region to gain permission to agree a contract with Belotti. Certainly, it is possible - but any move for Belotti would hamstring Milan’s Summer budget and more transfers are needed. Technically Milan could afford Belotti and two other players, but it would represent an all or nothing move.

As for Petrachi’s comments? He’s not wrong - Milan are only three places away from being in Torino’s Serie A position. However, they are AC Milan and Petrachi is Torino, can he truly dictate what a big club is if they stump up the fee? And what could be more tantalizing than being the striker who helped fix the Rossoneri?
