After loss to Empoli, Milan threaten to implode

The writing might just be on the wall for Milan’s season

A loss against a team fighting away the threat of relegation. Sometimes, things like this are routine for the Milan of late.

On Sunday afternoon, Milan collapsed against 17th placed Empoli to lose 2-1. I don’t need to tell that you Milan pretty much needed a win, but thankfully Inter fell to Fiorentina to remain 7th in the table. That result does mean that both Inter and Fiorentina are within striking distance of sixth place and what might amount to a Europa League place depending on what happens in the Coppa Italia.

Milan’s loss on Sunday wasn’t the only bad news. Fullback Mattia De Sciglio, according to reports, will seek a move away from Milan in the summer and there are slight worries emerging about Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future with the club. The reports regarding Mattia De Sciglio sparked a skirmish between the Milan defender and a number of angry Milan fans. None of this is the type of news that Rossoneri fans want to hear as the season draws to a close.

With mishaps on the pitch, and catastrophes off it - including the threat of violence against a player - this seems to hint that Milan’s season is all but over. Milan play Crotone next before facing off against Roma, Atalanta and Bologna and any single loss could spell the end, while no wins are guaranteed anymore.
