It is goodbye to Vincenzo Montella and hello to Gattuso as Milan make massive managerial change

The scoreless draw against Torino was Montella’s last time on Milan’s bench.

AC Milan’s management has had enough of the current bad streak in the Serie A, so they have decided to part ways with coach Vincenzo Montella. As written in the club’s statement on its website, Gennaro Gattuso will take his position as head coach, leaving his job as Primavera coach.

Montella’s inability to find a solution for the team’s struggles in the Serie A has been the main reason why he won’t be Milan’s coach anymore. In effect, he sent on the field his 23rd different formation on Sunday afternoon match against Torino, meaning that something was still wrong and the result confirmed it.

However, Milan had a really solid first round in the Europa League and looked definitely better than their Serie A counterpart, which shows that Montella has not been that bad. Unfortunately the 5-1 win against Austria Wien on Thursday night was not enough and Gattuso will try to continue what Montella did in Europe and make the team play better in Serie A.

Thanks for everything Vincenzo and welcome (back) Ringhio!
