Deulofeu joins Milan and is set for a key role

Montella isn’t messing around with the only move likely to be made this winter.

After a brief spat between Milan and Everton over the rossoneri’s decision to prematurely announce the deal - Gerard Deulofeu has completed his expected move to Milan on loan.

While many will pity 7th placed Milan for competing with Middlesbrough for the services of the Spanish winger, Deulofeu is genuinely an asset and could work wonders at the San Siro. For whatever reason, he was deemed to be surplus to requirements by Ronald Koeman, the boss over at Everton. It may seem embarrassing to consider that Milan can barely compete with relegation candidates in the Premier League for the signature of a player - but one would do well to remember that Milan are under an unofficial transfer embargo of sorts and no finances are available until Sino-Europe complete their takeover in the spring.

Vincenzo Montella had a lot to say about Deulofeu, who has joined until the end of the season.

“He’s a player I know very well, because I’ve been following him for some time. He has all the talent in the world, but hasn’t expressed it fully. One of my tasks will be to see why, because he’s a very strong player. We signed him to play him.”

“We’ll see how he is physically, but he’s keen to make his mark."

There you have it - Milan’s new man has a big part to play for Milan in the tail end of this season.
