AC Milan were unable to break Napoli’s unbeaten streak and remain 5th in the Serie A after going down 2-1.

It was another 2-0 first half deficit for Milan. However, this time they were unable to complete the comeback.

Milan started poorly (again), with Lorenzo Insigne drilling in a cross from Dries Mertens in just the sixth minute to give Napoli a 1-0 lead.

Three minutes later Napoli were in again, with Dries Mertens again providing the assist, slipping a pass into the area for Jose Callejon who managed to squeeze the ball past Donnarumma to make it 2-0.

Milan managed to get one back in the first half to make it a decent contest and set up for a thrilling finish after Juraj Kucka slid the ball past Pepe Reina in the 37th minute.

Despite a few more chances, Milan were unable to find an equaliser, with Donnarumma coming close in injury time after he rushed up for a corner and headed the ball towards the net, only for it to go straight to Reina.

The loss leaves Milan in fifth spot on the table, while Napoli increased their chances for a top three spot, and are level with Roma who are 2nd on 44 points.

Milan’s next match is when they take on Juventus in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, where they will be looking to avenge their loss to them in last seasons final.
