In what would appear to Milan’s final piece of summer transfer action, AC Milan have taken on the services of Fiorentina midfielder from Chile, with an option to buy.

Following three strong seasons under Montella, Fernandez found his playing time limited under current Fiorentina manager Paulo Sousa, it seems returning to play under Montella was favourable for all parties involved.
During a final transfer day in which many Milan supporters would have been hoping for a miraculous Fabregas arrival, and through a summer transfer market which has seen Milan almost exclusively settle for the ‘plan-B’ player, it is hard not to be left slightly disheartened that deadline day ends with the arrival of a 30 year-old midfielder, unwanted by a team not expected to challenge for Champions League places.
And, if it all goes well, Milan can sign him at the end of the loan!
Alas, we can only hope that Fernández’s experience in Serie A can help continue AC Milan’s football revival.
