In a transfer window that has seen solid additions in the attack and defence through Lapadula and Gomez, the sale of the club to Chinese investors marks what many will hope to be Milan’s revival as league and European contenders, with Isco being the type of world class talent required to make this a reality. With what is hoped to be an imminent influx of spending cash, supporters are craving the addition of a player of proven quality and stardom, the likes of which the club has not seen since Ibrahimović’s arrival in 2010. Considering the abundance of quality in the Madrid squad it is an enviable problem to have; the likes of Isco, Kovačić, Lucas Vásquez & Casemiro struggling for game time in a typically stacked midfield.
For now we can only hope that these links prove to be of greater substance than those for Kovačić earlier in the window, and that Milan now has the financial might to compete it what has been the most frivolous summer market to date.
