AC Milan will likely miss out on boosting their midfield ranks as Napoli look all but set to beat the Milanese to the signing of one Piotr Zielinski.

The Polish midfielder has been rumoured to move over to Merseyside and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool for pretty much the entirety of the summer.

Napoli, however, will beat both teams to Zielinski with a 14 million Euro + player deal.

Here’s what our friends over at ‘The Sirens Song’ - SBNation’s Napoli blog had to say about this news:

‘If Napoli get this deal done, it'd be a good thing in the long run for the club. It'd be a bit pricey, but dumping Zuniga and getting a productive young midfielder who knows Maurizio Sarri's methods -- he was at Empoli on loan the last two seasons -- and can give Napoli a Marek Hamsik backup and possible long-term replacement makes it a gamble worth taking. There's very little reason not to like this move if it comes to fruition, so fingers crossed that it's completed quickly and smoothly.’

It’s a damn shame to miss out on a ‘Hamsik-a-like’ for Milan, but we’ll find our guy.

Eventually.
