Lapadula out for the rest of July with ankle issue

Milan fans will have to wait a little bit longer to see the newly acquired striker in action.

Gianluca Lapadula will not participate in Milan's U.S. friendlies as he recovers from an ankle injury. Calciomercato reports that he will start his training with the team on August 5.

Milan are (for some reason) heading to America to partake in the 'International Champions Cup' alongside Leicester City, Bayern Munich and Liverpool among others. Milan will feature in matches taking place in Chicago, Minneapolis and Santa Clara in the exhibition competition.

The 26 year old Gianluca Lapadula was acquired from Serie B side, Pescara, for a fee of €9 million euros. Despite scoring 30 goals in 46 appearances, leading Pescara to promotion as the Serie B top scorer, many critics are skeptical as to whether he can succeed at the higher level. Montella is optimistic despite not seeing him in action, claiming his personality bodes good things for the attacker.

Let's hope that he can do great things at Milan.
