In a bizarre turn of events, Milan are reportedly interested in signing Carpi forward Kevin Lasagna. In the wake of news that the takeover of the club is expected to be delayed further still, Milan appear to be targeting more modest acquisitions in the meantime. Even then though, this move will come as a shock to many Milanisti.
23 year old Lasagna enjoyed a good first season in Serie A last year with the Biancorossi, scoring five goals in thirty six games and has caught the attention of several Serie A sides. Milan are reportedly offering 6.5 million Euros along with Gianmario Comi to Carpi in order to facilitate a transfer.
Whilst Lasagna is undoubtedly a talented player, it's hard to see how he would be an improvement on the options already available to Milan up front. The fact that clubs such as Udinese and Bologna are looking at Lasagna should serve as an indication to Rossoneri officials that he simply isn't up to par, especially bearing in mind the forward options already at the club.
That said, if the reports are true then he could be on his way to Milanello very soon. Hopefully however, the club will look to invest their efforts in improving the midfield and reinforcing the defence rather than pursuing yet more attackers.
