Today's funeral to mark the passing of Rossoneri legend, Cesare Maldini is set to be a low-key event following an announcement by A.C Milan that their squad will not be attending the funeral of the club legend.
"Based on the wishes of the Maldini family, who have a simple and low-key funeral in mind for the final farewell to the Milan great Cesare, the Rossoneri first-team squad will no longer be attending the funeral as a sign of respect,"
Milan will still be represented at the event as Silvio Berlusconi, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Christian Abbiati and Riccardo Montolivo will be in attendance.
Maldini, a giant of Italian football will be laid to rest today at the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio in an appropriately simple affair for the man who was the first Italian to lift the European Cup.
A.C. Milan will host their own event, this Saturday during their clash with Juventus to honour Cesare.
