An emotional day for Milan was capped off by a disappointing loss for the Rossoneri.
Despite taking the lead through an early Luiz Adriano penalty, Milan quickly fell to two Atalanta goals including this world class finish from Atalanta's Pinilla.
We predicted a 3-1 win for a Milan side seeking their first win in four games earlier today and that was not to be the case. Milan did look capable of winning the game on a number of occasions, particularly towards the end but both the passing and positioning of Milan's players let down the Rossoneri on a few occasions, Riccardo Montolivo's laziness almost cost Milan a third goal as he failed to stop a pressing Atalanta attack which was only mopped up by an alert Donnarumma.
Mario Balotelli's pressure on the defence was a small highlight and might end up with the former Italy forward starting for Milan after a disappointing run. Balotelli attempted to create chances himself and even wound up making a few offensive tackles, which showed a bit more desire than we've come to see from Mario in the past.
Sloppiness in both attack and defense cost Milan the game in an expensive loss that may derail their european hopes. Only improvement in all areas will see the Rossoneri embark on a Europa League trip next season.
