Giacomo Bonaventura's Euro 2016 hopes have taken a huge dent today as the Milan star has been sent home from the Italy squad with a virus. ESPN report that Bonaventura was set to play a large part in today's Euro 2016 warm-up, and with the Milan favourite missing out, Fiorentina's Federico Bernardeschi - Giacomo's positional rival - will likely start and increase his own chances of making the Azzurri's roster later this summer.
What this means now is that Bonaventura (and anyone else hoping to impress Antonio Conte before this summer's tournament) will only have one more chance at doing so, if they make the Italy team to face Scotland on the 29th of May. Bonaventura hasn't been ruled out for Milan's next game at Atalanta. He will certainly need to continue his form or even step up a level to catch up with Bernardeschi, who will have a free shot at a place in Conte's squad.
