Mattia De Sciglio has joined the Azzurri ahead of Tuesday's friendly meeting with arch-rivals Germany as Antonio Conte looks to add width to his back line. A statement published on the FIGC website announced that the Milan man had been summoned to Coverciano, Italy's training base, as the squad prepares for next week's test against the reigning world champions.
The Azzurri were undoutedbly the better side in a 1-1 draw with Spain at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, in which Conte deployed an experimental 3-4-3 formation. However, Bologna's winger had to limp out at the end of yesterday's match, and the Federation has confirmed that De Sciglio will fill his spot. This will be De Sciglio's 23rd outing with the Nazionale. A mainstay with the youth side, he made his debut for the senior team on in March of 2013, in a friendly match against Brazil that ended in a 2–2 draw. His first appearance in a competitive fixture came during the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil.
