Bad news for AC Milan: the 21-year-old center back Alessio Romagnoli could miss the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday night due to an injury.
As reported by Milan’s official statement, the player suffered a groin injury during Tuesday night’s friendly match against Germany and will be evaluated again in the next few days. The Italian version of the official statement by the club is a bit more accurate, saying that Romagnoli’s injury doesn’t appear to be severe, but it’s still one of those situations where the player may take a few weeks to get back to play.
Now the situation at center back for the Rossoneri does not seem to be good, since Gustavo Gomez is the only replacement available for Sunday night’s match against Inter Milan. Gabriel Paletta and Romagnoli have been playing really well so far and seemed to form a really balanced duo, while Gomez showed to be still a bit limited both in coverage and when he has to play the ball.
It’s really unlikely to see him suit up for the match on Sunday night, but we hope that Romagnoli will be back as soon as possible since he’s one of the most important pieces in this team.
