World Cup 2014: Semifinal Preview

Four remaining stand for a chance at the greatest Trophy in Football.

Laurence Griffiths

Oddly enough the two big AC Milan protagonists, Nigel De Jong and former Milan man Thiago Silva, are both out of the semifinal.  One due to injury and one due to a silly suspension.  Holland will be fine without their midfield enforcer but it is Brazil that will struggle without their superstar at the back or their superstar at the front.

I have never been a big fan of Brazilian football.  The samba stye, the overhyped players, or the propensity to cave when pushed.  With that said i think Germany will be booking their ticket to becoming the nearly man they are so used to being. The Champion of the World will come from the winner of Argentina and Holland!

Now I would be a bit of a hypocrite if I didn't stick to my guns and say a South American team would win this World Cup. More importantly you have to acknowledge how much it will mean to Argentina to lift this trophy on Brazilian soil.  Their road won't be easy though, Holland is firing on all cylinders and where simply unlucky to not see themselves through against Costa Rica before injury time.  It's really a dream match up.  Sneijder, Van Persi, and Robben versus Higuian, Zabaleta, and Messi!  Neither team has truly had to exert themselves and both have shown they can hit their stride and throttle back if needed.

I hate making predictions so I won't, but at the end of the day my heart is with the Dutch but my brain says it will be Argentina.  Going to be an exciting two days as we lead up to the Final!
