The Torres experiment seems to be over at Milan. The struggling forward, who has only scored one Serie A goal in 10 games and has found himself on the bench more often than not has been the subject of transfer speculation just a few months into his 18 month loan deal with Milan. Today, Milan Channel has announced that Milan are in the process of negotiating a swap with Atletico Madrid where Torres would return to his boyhood club in exchange for Cerci. The deal is said to be in the advanced stages.
Cerci himself has been struggling at Atletico Madrid and there have been numerous reports of him being overweight and general problems between the player and management. The Italian has only played three games for the Spanish champions and hasn't scored in any games so far. He's also been sent off once.
The deal has been hinted to by everyone from the Atletico Madrid management to Silvio Berlusconi and though they've all tried to be coy about it, it comes as little surprise. The Torres loan has been a disaster and Cerci doesn't fit the style of Atletico Madrid. It's the best for both parties. Torres gets to return to a place where he's still revered and to a manager in Diego Simeone who might be the only person left who can squeeze quality from the fading forward.
The best part of it all? It pisses off Inter who have been courting Cerci as well. One more win for the good guys.
