"It's hard to choose a single favorite memory, but I suppose if I had to, it would have to be seeing our glorious captain hoist the 2007 Champions League Trophy in Athens. What a euphoric day, it was truly one of the most beautiful images I have ever seen. Of course it was a team victory, and a most wonderful one at that, but it is hard for me not to focus on the man that led them there. Whenever I imagine that moment, I think about all of the different qualities that make Paolo who he is: his incredible talent, his leadership, his charms, his intelligence, his immense respect for the game. But I think the quality that I admire the most is probably his most obvious: his class, in all of its different manifestations. Whether it is analyzing our technical problems with a keen eye and giving voice to the observations supporters like us often make, guiding his teammates during matches (especially our youngins), always treating everyone in his vicinity with the upmost respect, be they teammates, staff, refs, or opponents, or simply serving as a wonderful role model to all that see him, to me, Maldini has always encompassed everything that was beautiful about Milan and everything that was beautiful about football. The thought that he won't be there next season is truly unimaginable at the moment, to be honest, and when he leaves, it will be a day that the whole of football will mourn. Forza Paolo per sempre!"
