Wednesday Milan Musings
By: Gianfranco | January 21st, 2009Somehow in the busiest of schedules, Milan made a grand decision to roll out the old men for a friendly. What I find even more puzzling about this match is Carletto’s lineup!? It is friendly, and typically for every other team but ours, friendlies are a chance to bleed the youngsters and rest the old folks who start week in and week out. Seems to make sense right? Only to us it seems, only to us…
Despite being down a goal in the first ten minutes it seemed the club was up to the task and scored three goals with Pippo , as always finding his way to the net. Sheva scored as well, and his performance was even rated as above average by of match reports. Beckham and Dinho both started and their inclusion on Sunday is probably iffy at this point. The big story of the match was the Milan debut of Thiago Silva who turned out a creditable performance, his countrymen and new edition Mattioni is still among the missing. Antonini was given a chance, which I wish was would happen more often, but as long as the team can pull points, I guess things will stay the same.
Kaka
I know many of you are reading the Madrid rumors and articles and getting frustrated all over again, but in my opinion Kaka is here to stay. How long is up for debate, but just stop and think for a moment how Ricky feels after all this, could we fault him for leaving? He was treated as bait on a hook, and if the Rossoneri can’t produce CL football and he really does want to leave, can we fault him? He has been through a lot at this club, but his loyalty and faith were put the test, and is in real life you can only test so much before they walk away.
Transfer Market
It has been an extremely quiet window other than Kaka related, but I couldn’t help but laugh at Bayern’s price tag on Frank Ribery. Sure Frank is a solid player, with a face like a boxer, but to ask for Kaka/CRon money is a joke. I am sure more than few sporting directors in Europe joked on their cannoli’s when they heard that bullshit. As for the Rossoneri making more moves, it doesn’t look at all that promising, but I will say that the wheels should be turning for GRossi, if we must in fact prepare for next season sans Kaka. A little “scared side” of GRossi.
Serie A
This weekend’s results still have me in disbelief, but also give me a shred a hope that “impossible is nothing” to steal a phrase from our Sponsors. Inter are a very strong squad, but a bit wacko when it comes to the whole team chemistry, but if Jose can fix that goose then that team could become a steam roller. Juventus, who were my preseason pick for champs, still look like the team to beat and if they falter in the CL they will be a well rested force. Looking forward to part two of the season.

gian with Silva being the monster he is what the defence needs now is two signings: a good young CB like say Mexes and a new LB favalli should retire he is thrash; at the RB slot we have Oddo, Mattioni Bonera>all young and good enough and of course the old head Zambrotta. Midfield sell seedorf get becks back to L.A as soon as we can..get cuffy back and play him in midfield with dinho, kaka in front of pirlo, Flamini and the defensive four. Pato has been the lone foward for a while now and he has thrived.

oddo is old and should not return back plus we got zambrotta now he is younger than him and better.

GF, playing in a WC final and being *the* outstanding player in the Bundesliga by the the time one’s in his mid twenties is nothing to sneeze at.

I cant believe you guys like Adebayor. He might score the tap ins,but he doesnt do much. Benzema is 100 times better. He is strong, way faster, younger, only unproven.
I would prefer we go for him. Benzema Pato Kaka and Gourcuff next year, and then we will see who wins the title.Posted from

Lovely tackle by our future captain,Ro. He has the talent in him.

You can tell that he has natural talent…I hope he becomes a great footballer like his dad…how awesome would that be to have both Christian and Daniel at the same time?
I wonder if Christian is as good at doing the sliding tackle as Daniel

I’m a fan of benzema, I’d much prefer him over Adebayor. Let’s hope we actually sign someone to properly support Pato this summer

im all against adebayor, i just dont trust him. Drogba, meh but he’s much better. Eto’o he’s a beast, one of the best goal scorer out there today!
we cant handle Benzema and Villa will be probably 40 mil or so. i hope we invest and get someone proper to help Pato. and more imprtantly reinforce the defense and bench.
looks like Becks might stay for a bit longer.

Beckham should go after his loan spell ends, unless he is earing LOADS of money for us. I am sounding like Fester but, we can invest that money in the team.
I think we can play Janks at LM and buy a new LB(or play antonini). I liked his forward runs against Fiorentina.Posted from

thanks moka, though i’m definitely not as disciplined with updates as “real” bloggers. i just write when i feel like it.
i think the other thing to mention about revenues from beckham and kaka is that they will never translate to gains on the pitch, at least not close to proportionally. the calculus is as follows: sell kaka for a 21 trillion dollars, then spend just enough money on new blood to appease the fans, thereby maximizing profit. it’s a bad economy and milan has been in financial straits ever since failing to qualify for the champions league, so kaka and beckham will be a quick buck for milan the organization, not milan’s disposable income used to buy the fans new toys.

Profits? Can someone show me one club that’s running a profit that’s worth the name?

galliani is just talking balls when he says milan is broke. hes does it to get cheaper transfers

The only reason Bayern Munich priced Ribery at that amount is because they don’t want to sell him. No one will pay that. And I don’t think its out of line to put him in same league as Kaka and CRonaldo because he’s been playing phenomenally in the Bundesliga.

it’s not that milan’s broke, but any company that takes an unexpected hit is going to completely change its operating procedures. look closely: the only big signing milan made was ronaldinho, and only because his stock dropped. flamini, abbiati, thiago silva, shevchenko, senderos, borriello, even zambrotta, range from good deals to travesties. i actually think galliani deserves some credit overall for this.
i think that this year can be characterized as one of rebuilding from the organization’s perspective, where the foundations for profitability can be restored and qualifying for the champions league is top priority, no matter what they tell us.
most big football clubs are wildly profitable. if i recall right, manchester united made something like $100 million last year. in fact most premier league and la liga clubs are turning big money. the bundesliga is supposed to be the most profitable of all though, but since their teams mostly stink that doesn’t say much. it’s only serie a teams, like milan, juventus, inter, that are allegedly hemorrhaging cash.

Don’t write Kaka’s and some ………………………… C Ronaldo’s name together ever. C Ronaldo is a dust in our Ricky Kaka’s shoes. It’s wrong to even think about comparing them.
You guys just think about the 3 goals Kaka scored against Manu in CL 07.
1. Blistering pace to score first goal of Seedorf’s through ball finishing in left foot.
2. Absolutely gem of a talent to score second goal, at the same time making ManU’s defence look ludicrous.
3. Unstoppable left foot volley from a headed ball from Seedorf in the heavenly rains at San Siro.
I’ll never forget these 3 goals in my lifetime.
Can some bloke like C Ronaldo ever score one goal like that. I haven’t seen a goal like one of the mentioned above from his 42 goals in the last season. Except for his dribbling and trickery skills, he is just an ordinary player. The ones he has scored from free kicks were cracks in the wall.
According to FIFA he is 2008 world player of the year because of the double trophy and his goals. I don’t care a s**t about it.

And what about our transfer target Daniel Agger? We badly need a solid Center half. He is the precise choice. We should stop worrying about full backs and concentrate on getting Agger.
Our Scudetto chances will be alive, only if we don’t leak goals with same scrappy defense. I am not worried about the midfield and the forward line, they will win us the matches provided they have strong support from the back.
Forza Milan!!

Fadayn, whatever profits there are in the football club business are very meagre. Certainly not enough for owners to pocket them instead of reinvesting. Bayern Munich’s operating profits wouldn’t buy Kaka’s foot’s left pinky.

To clarify my statements:
-Villa, Benzema, Adebayor… These are the strikers that I would like for Milan to go after, any ONE of the three.
I KNOW that there are other strikers out there who are bad ass (Eto, Torres, etc.) ….. but these are the ones I like for Milan.
-I like these stikers in that very order. The thing is that out of those three, I really only feel that we have a shot at signing Adebayor.
-I’m quite confident that any ONE of the 3 of those could come in here and really give Pato some more room to work while giving us a deadly 2nd striking threat which we could use at the moment.
-Pippo is almost gone, lets keep him on for those last min. goals he magically produces. Sheva is a shell of his old self, dump him. Boriello just hasn’t made it happen so far, but I like his style…lets see what he does from here on out.
———————————–
Ideally: out of my top 3 striker picks for Milan… I WOULD LOVE SIGNING BENZEMA !(young, talented, strong, HUGE potential)
!!!now get it done fester!!!Posted from

looks like ManU want Benzema, but so do Chels, Arsenal, Barca, Real M. ….. and they are talking big $$$ for him, so I guess we haven’t even shown interest???
