Tuesday Milan Musings, Samp Time
By: Gianfranco | March 18th, 2008
vs.

The Rossoneri are still licking their wounds from an extremely difficult weekend loss, but the shorter their memory the better they will be because Cassono-less Samp is coming to town. With Samp only four points behind Milan this game (what game isn’t at this juncture of the season) is very important. It would be a much more exciting game if Crazy Cassano was in town but it will be important nonetheless. Samp is a quality team that can take wins when they need too, but also have a hard time earning points on the road. Let’s hope they struggle for the sake of the coveted fourth spot.
Even more important are the trips of Juve and the Viola, to Empoli and Naples. The more the season wears on the more I am beginning to think the Rossoneri will need a little help and it is not time like the present for Empoli to crawl out of the relegation with a wins against Juventus. Napoli is easily the most inconsistent team, next to ours, and is capable of good strong wins. The problem is the Viola are by no means losing steam, with their UEFA win, and great coaching; I expect them to stay strong…
Carletto is firm that the team is going to pull it together, and their bill of health is getting a bit better. But as I look at the projected lineup of Kalac, Oddo/Cafu, Nesta, Kaladaze, Favalli/Janks, Rino, Pirlo, Ambro, Kaka, Seedorf & Pato, I have to wonder if they are going to be able hack it up front. They will need Saturday’s performance from Seedorf all over again, but they will need a much more collected Kaka and Pato to assure a win tomorrow.
MUSINGS
-Kalac supposedly got a new contract according to La Gazzetta, but Milan’s website was quick to point out that it was not the case. Poor Kalac, he stands in for Dida and achieves fantastic form and is rewarded with Milan denying his contract extension. Kalac is not the future of goal keeping for the Rossoneri, but he is a fantastic back up and a formidable stand in. A contract is not the worst thing, but as Milan has shown they plan on doing better.
-Pele has stated that Ronaldo may not return to football and Ronaldo did not take the legend all that seriously. Instead he laughed it off and said then when Pele forecasts things they never come true.
-Abbiati seems to care little about his return to San Siro. I would not mind seeing him pulled back, but his lack of real desire is really off putting. He loves Milan, and he plays for them, I would be chomping at the bit to get into their starting eleven. Maybe Amelia will want it a bit more.
-Kaka has been voted the most popular in Italy, great now lets show some of the form that got you there.
-Seedorf believes Milan will finish in fourth, I really hope he elaborates on his beliefs. This way I can find some reassurance myself as well.

Great. I am back, trying to digest a defeat I was not able to just 4 hours back.
I think, we can get 4th but we will need Fiorentina to slip up away from home. Catching Juve is still possible, but maybe I am too optimistic.Posted from

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t blink a couple times at bewilderment at your first two posts, moka.
moka, is our team playing like crap? Yes. We know it, they know it, Carletto knows it, and every single team they face know this isn’t what we’re capable of.
But honestly, I’d follow them into Serie Z if I had to. I love this team so much it hurts sometimes. These are bad times, but you stick by your team no matter what.
You know what? It’s gonna pass, and we all know that real change won’t come until the summer. Until then, we have to Grit. It. Out. And. Play. With. Hunger. if we want 4th. What I’ve been seeing is the indifference that we feel right now. If we don’t believe in them, who the hell else will?

Shambolic defending again by Milan. Seedorf really had a shocker today.
But it has to be said that Milan have no luck either lately. First Kaka exist was very ominous and then everything else was ’so close but no cigar’ stuff.
The only saving grace is that Fiorentina lost but Milan wasted another precious game to close a deficit that needs at least two games to close. If we haven’t ran out of games already we’re pretty damn close.

another atrocious performance…
champions league action next year is starting to look like a mirage… unless we step it up from now on, it will be practically impossible…
but the way we have been playing, it sure doesnt seem likely that we will step it up either…

This is the pits. The way we’re playing I really don’t think we deserve to be in next year’s CL. Much as I breathe red-black.
Sheva would seemingly be back on loan next season?Posted from

Fiorentina have a few tough games against Inter,Udinese,Sampdoria. So they will drop points.
We have to beat Juve,Inter,Udinese and Napoli. Not at all easy, but we have to believe in Milan. We can do it(but we have to play like we did against Samp. in the 2nd half yesterday).
FORZA MILAN!!!Posted from

I agree Ranjeet. But Milan certainly have the tougher schedule compared to Fiorentina and the atrocious defending just keeps on keeping on every week. It’s note boding well for any sort of confidence for them on my part.

The next three games are going to be decisive. The Viola face Lazio, Udinese and Reggina and they have the UEFA Cup matches against PSV to distract them.
While we face Torino, Atalanta and Cagliari (we simply must gain 9 points here). A good chance to leapfrog Fiorentina huh?Posted from

I’ve always believed in Milan and I love the team, no matter what.
But I’m not watching another Milan game, until they win 3 games in a row because:
1) waste of time
2) too depressing
3) frustratingWe’re all depressed and I know we have to stay behind the team, but this is getting wayy too ridiculous. Seriously, enough is enough.
We all have our bad seasons, true, but it’s not like theres any ‘understandable’ reason behind this. Nothing we can do right now, so whatever. If Milan don’t rebuild over the summer, then I’m personally going to Milan, and I’ll set up a tent outside the stadium in protest.

Who’s to blame? On top of the list, the administration.
The administration who has been living a lie, believing that because they won the CL last year, there was no real need to get new players.
And to say injuries were a problem is just another excuse. Seriously, were they really depending on Ronaldo after the Christmas break. If so, give me a break.
and Gilardino can f*** off.

The truth is, if we continue to say: ok the team will bounce back, and it does, then we won’t solve anything.
But I think everyone here is aware of all the shit/garbage/crap in the team.

Pirlo was better yesterday than he has been in a while. Our young guys had heart, Palo/Pato attacked with ferocity, but showed their inexperience, not necessarily their fault. Nesta was still pretty good considering he just came back from injury, at fault (not entirely)on the second goal, but really, Kaladze should have been much, much better since he’s the defender who’s been playing regularly lately. He was awful. Kalac proved why he’ll never be our #1 keeper.
The first half was as bad as I’ve ever seen Milan… the second half gave me hope for the rest of this season.

not much to say, everything has been said.
this is unacceptable! at least its good that Ancelotti said we must have major big changes at the end of the season. i hope by big, he really means big. this is 96 all over again. soon and i really hope not, but sometimes you need it, our management will get a hard knock on the head by the fans, especially if we lose the CL spot. and we need that, the knock, and hopefully we still get the CL spot.
im so tired to even talk about this. i just hope this problem end in this season and we dont carry it with us.in other news, Kaka is not in a good condition. i dont know the details, but i say if he can perform the surgery now and stay out for 2 months but come back fresh next season. do it!

We probably didnt realize the game had started until we were 2-0 down. Carletto needs to fire them up. We need a win at Torino.
Only positive things from yesterday were that Ancelotti made the right subs(when was the last time he did it right?),and the fact that he trusts Paloschi more than Gila. Its good for Paloschi. He’ll become great one day.Posted from

thanks for the info hana. leave kaka to recover n get him back for next season as he hasn’t been fit since last season.
saw highlights, too painful to mention but glad paloschi scored. at least borriello scored against the pub team.

kaka injured for 10 days. more tests will be done today and tomorrow. for now he will surely miss the torino game.
i think we can see Pato playing behind the attackers on Sat. he played an amazing game yesterday. hopefully maybe we’ll see Gourcuff.
im sure Carletto will change the way we play next game.
