What’s the problem with Pirlo? He needs adequate back-up to relieve him when he’s tired. Of all the starters we have, I think Pirlo is the only one who doesn’t have a capable back-up, and if Carletto thinks playing Emerson or Brocchi is a decent solution, well last season we saw how terrible we played with those guys in the line-up. That’s why I was actually disappointed Ancelotti didn’t give Gourcuff more chance to try to be vice-Pirlo.

IMO, other than replacing Dida, I say getting a Pirlo/Seedorf back-up is far more important than getting a Ronaldinho or another striker.

Keep in mind these guys have TONS of other marketability options. Kaka has billboards all over Milan for Dolce and Gabbana, Rolex (?) watches, adidas, etc. I don’t think brand name shoes factor that much. I.e, Beckham: adidas guy since day one but ManU never wore adidas (umbro and nike). But they still made a load of money by plastering Beck’s face everywhere. Really, I’m not sure this matters at all anyway. I mean, do we really want Ronaldinho’s face to be the face of Milan? The guy makes British dentistry look good.

yah gianfrance, but nonetheless Milan will get a percentage from that. if he was an adidas player, it would just be more like have a clothing line for like Kaka and more ads with Milan. but they’ll still cash in. Pato is a nike player, Ronaldo helped Milan too when he first came, just his name coming was a big deal all around the world, because he is THE Ronaldo.

i think Dinho has 8-7 years left in his nike deal.

Fetyani, in response to Milan getting money back on Dinho adverstising, I would think that this wont happen like it does at Barca. Dinho is a Nike player and moving him to an Adidas team does not make a sponsor like Nike all that thrilled, because thier guy is nowing Adidas up top where everyone can see. Nike would love to have him at Inter, and even pay some of the fee, but Mourinho is way to rational for this kind of move. it will be interesting to see how this finally pans out, believe it or not one of the big issues keeping CRON at ManU is the Nike money, and the fact that Nike can help subsidize some of his contract and so on to keep him at ManU through his Nike deal.

Maybe Nike wants to offload Dinho though and this is the last staw!?

Sushan, Pirlo is the engine that drives this team, and even when is “off his game” he still contributes in ways that are impossible to see and notice with his short passes and dictation of tempo. Your argument is purely reveresed with Kaka, being theone that dissapears, case in point, I watched Milan and Juve play to a draw where Kaka had possesion once or twice in the second half, with Pirlo touching the ball on almost very Milan possession. The man deserves what he asks for, plain and simple.

The whole issue with wages is Milan’s fault.. Rather than give the youngsters (who demand nothing wage-wise), a chance to play, they go for players like Emerson and Ronaldo who obviously demand a lot considering the clubs they’ve played for, which ends up not being worth it..

It’s the stupid transfer policy of buying old players.. Young players won’t demand much, unless it’s Adebayor (demands 120k a month to play like Henry.. seriously wow.. Henry’s had 7 amazing seasons with Arsenal, and you’ve had 1, and now you think you’re Henry.. get real!)

How much will Zambrotta cost us in wages? They’d be saving a lot if they opted for Maggio instead.. (that’s just one example)

So honestly, I don’t feel sorry for Milan’s money issues..
When you’re idiots in the transfer market, it back-fires on you..

(Though seriously, don’t joke about Andrea’s hair. I’ve been developing a theory over this season that the less fluffy it is, the worse we play as a team. It’s that magical.)

Joking aside, I don’t know if you all have read this, but it’s from the blog “Run of Play”. The author has a really exquisite writing style, and his portrait of Andrea is a MUST READ for all football fans, Milanistas or not. Beautifully worded.
