The Root of All Evil
By: Gianfranco | September 7th, 2009It’s funny, International breaks are great as it gives everyone a chance to recharge and forget about things like piss poor derby performances. I usually like to use these times to post AC Milan Legend posts that I wrote throughout the summer at times of inspiration. This one was hilarious for me because I wrote this about Silvio Berlusconi in a guarded almost bite my tongue fashion. But as I wrote and reread in the past few days, I knew there was far more to this than positives and legacy.

The first and most important thing to say about Silvio as a tifosi is Grazie. In the past twenty five years there has been no club more successful, more prominent, and more exciting than our very own AC Milan. Man U, Real, Barca, and others can lay claim to this title but when you look at Silvio’s silverware collection the battle stop’s there. Silvio also made owning a soccer club glamorous, he furthered the family owned club tradition by bringing a George Steinbrenner style of ownership to football. Without Silvio there would be no outspoken owners, no Morattis, no Abramovichs…and maybe this would be a good thing, but those personalities are what make the sport so intriguing.
For the first time in all the years of Silvio’s ownership I finally feel that I can say enough is enough. The game has moved beyond our enigmatic owner. His evaluation and affection towards certain players is mindboggling and his insistence and complacency with certain issues may prove the final straw that unravels our Club. Whatever excuse you may come up with for Silvio: politics, women, and divorce he no longer understands and pay attenention to the game in a way that could make him vocal and hands on owner. In his current position the best thing he can is stay away from the club as he did during his term as President. Uncle Fester is not the best number two in the World, but his bossing of the club is far more preferred to Silvio’s recent rambling and diarrhea of the mouth.
Please don’t take this post as a call for Silvio to sell the Club. This would be far worse than any of us can imagine at the moment. A sale could leave the club in a carousel of owners which can lead to a myriad of problems that I cannot deal with at the moment. Sure Silvio is pinching pennies but with the current economic crisis this is not a terrible thing, if we come out stronger in the next few years than even better, but a sale now would be devastating to all parties involved. Instead take this post as a call for Silvio to step out of the club lime light, shut up, an let the people you hired do their job in making this club what it is. Don’t talk about players, formations, tactics, and “great champions!” The current status of the club is that we don’t have great players, great tactics, or great champions, so don’t run your mouth and let this team get back to a position it once was. A word of advice to our “great” owner would be to get your life in order, solve your divorce crisis, and decide how on Earth you want to continue funding this team, leave the football related stuff to the people who understand it, barely…

Silvo – you don’t care for Messi or is this something to do with Dinho + Milan?

Another 6 hookers have spoken about parties with berlusconi. It’s not in the italian press obviously as he owns it all (almost) but it’s further damage. Seemingly there were 18 sex parties in first 5 months of this year, including one with two women who trade on looking like twins. I don’t know where he gets the energy.

@ Fifaguy – They got Viagara and whole heap of other stuff to make sure Berlu can keep having fun for years to come.
Now were down that road, it appears that since Viagara really became popular a few years ago Milan has been getting progressively worse.
Maybe since Silvio has (re)discovered his toy, Milan isn’t that fun/entertaining anymore.

My above comment was actually in response to Fadayn, not Fifaguy.

becks on his way back??
but this cloud COULD have a silver lining
“Furthermore, the report claims Leonardo is making plans to change his tactics so ‘Becks’ can fit into the system by moving Andrea Pirlo further forward.”
Im all for Pirlo moving further up (the air is fresher the further up the pitch you go)so maybe helps him Pirlo stay awake?

pirlo was awful last night and against germany thats hardly something to aspire too?!
beckhams manager has been trying to get him a spot on an english prem team; he bought out storm model agency (kate moss etc) in london to try to recentre Brand Beckham in england but it’s failing so theyre resigned to the fall-back option of milan. He also owns the pop-idol franchise and as the beckhams visibility in america has plummeted he put posh on the american idol jury but her profile hasn’t benefited. america is dead so they desperately need beckham to get to the world cup, this deal where he takes no wages with milan is a commercial agreement between berlusconi and Brand Beckham.
Silvio has accepted the title race is over.

Sounds like a motivated player and a professional. His play has not matched his words, yet. And for fifaguy, he’s already done. Time will tell.
I am one backing this player. Period. We’ll see at the end of the year what his contribution to this club will be. Started well and then was a disaster last game. It unfortunately for some stubborn folks in here seems that everything you say re R80 is an excuse. So I will reiterate a few “excuses” for my fellow “fanboys”:
1. Now that he is fit again and more involved in team plans, he needs time (half the year for instance) to prove himself. He had a brutal year last year and barely played. His fault mostly.
2. Imo he does not belong right behind 2 strikers, that is not his best spot. He should be out wide left and be able to roam, flip with Pato. I have no issues with Pirlo right behind an attacking 3 as long as the 2 other MF’s in front of our D are oustanding defensively.
3. The quality of players he has around him everyone on this board knows is lacking. Fifaguy, yes my comment on Messi was in PART a shot at people like you who think one player can win games. In terms of results for his country in WCQ, Messi has done nothing, with some pretty good players around him. This is not a comparison of the 2, but rather a comment on the criticism he gets because Dinho was so good. I feel the criticism is somewhat justified but also unfair if people are consistently focusing only on him and not speaking of others on the club and the state and strategy of the club.
Anyway, we have embarked on another R80 discussion. All I can see is we’ll see. After the 4-0 defeat some in here want to crucify him and others. 2 games.
He has more to lose than any one of us dumb fucks in here, that’s for sure. Missing out on the WC will be devastating for him. He better do a 360 or with Brasil’s current form there is no way he is getting back in.

You cant say messi has done nothing.. you can say Argentina has done nothing. Because from what I have seen and what i’ve heard and read also is that Messi is perfoming… just seperate to the team. So clearly tactics are wrong. the diff is that dinho isnt performing with the team, nor individually. Anyway, im not trying to start another dinho debate. Just thought that was an unfair comment to compare messi’s predicament to dinho’s.

We’re not that far apart on these issues, Silvio. Everyone knows that the current Milan squad lacks quality in certain areas and this is one reason why Dinho’s resurgence may prove difficult, especially if Leo/Berlu starts pushing the panic button after only a few games. I hope that Dinho is still in the starting eleven this weekend and HELPS make good things happen. Stay tuned…

Of course he will be in starting 11, who else?
The problem with R80 is that most of the fans still expect him to show his 2005 form. The 2.5 years long transition, from explosive forward to mature midfielder he supposed to be at age of 29 is non-existent. While others, like Zizou and Figo had an opportunity to change their former playing style into something age-suitable, Dinho’s misadventures and misfortunes kept him out. And now his attempt to regain a long forgotten fitness (coupled with questionable life style) might be something of a science fiction. No one should expect it, not Silvio B, not Leonardo, and they should act (should have acted) accordingly.
Moving Pirlo and Seedorf alongside Ronaldinho, behind Pato and KJH might prove interesting, but shortsighted move. If anything, I would like to see Abate getting his minutes, and Di Gennaro getting a nod ahead of some old farts.
Anyway, no matter how it will be done, Livorno is a must win.Posted from

yeah, definitely a must win. hope i don’t have to watch it as a crappy stream…

Silvio, honestly, he could take us to the CL final this year, and I still don’t think Dunga is going to call him. Not unless he is desperate. And seeing as how they have already qualified and are in wonderful form right now, I doubt that they would get that desperate.
Dunga has already established a hard working and balanced team and I don’t think he will be willing to mess up that balance to bring in ronaldinho. I just hope that he takes Pato to SA. But Dinho, I really dont think will be called up.

me neither. even diego, whose playing in the last two years is superior to dinho’s in every way doesn’t get called up…pato didn’t get called up this time around…I don’t see a spot for dinho in brasil’s squad of 22 unless, maybe, if kaka happens to be injured, and even then ronaldinho would almost certainly be a sub
