Milan – Atalanta Quick Preview
By: Gianfranco | March 7th, 2009Milan welcome a rather formidable Atalanta squad to the San Siro tomorrow, but with a run of poor form and an injury to big club beater Doni, Milan must capitalize and just plain prove they can still win games. This morning I watched Chelsea scored a sweet goal on a quick two pass counter, and wondered if Milan would ever be able to do that again. Two strikers and a four man midfield line should allow for some offense, but if Atalanta pack the box and are OK to clear crosses than some harder work will be needed to crack the defense.
Pippo and Pato should figure to start, but the pairing has not yielded results as hoped. With Sheva back from his mysterious injury he may figure to play and it would be in all our best interest if he decided to find any type of form. The mifield will probably show a deep playmaker, Pirlo, and Seedorf as an attacking one, but this also seems to have yielded very little. If Seedorf has a stinker he needs to make way, and it will be intersting if Viudez is rewarded for his pace in the midweek friendly. The main point here is if we are going to lose with the old horses out there, why not throw some youth at the problem and see what comes of it. A loss is a loss but if a kid like Viudez can shine a bit, shouldn’t his chance come?
A win here will do alot for everyones confidence both the team and the tifosi, and as I sit here and watch the nil-nil derby of Torino in the 60th minute, Milan really could use the points. I know I have said it before, but if you have a chance to watch Abate, you will sing his praises as much as I have. Watching him blow by Giovinco, and still bottle him up when needed makes me ponder the prospects of matching him on the same flank as Kaka. The kid has pace and can add a flank player that we have seen since Donadoni! Bottom line bring Abate home…
I wanted to discuss the share deal of David Beckham, and though his form has dipped since his arrival, he still is a fairly important edition consider the loss of Rino. It is no secret, I like Becks, and I am OK with his stay for the rest of the season, but it needs to end there. This team needs to many changes to have him absorb a spot, and if him staying means a player like Abate leaving, then he can pack his bags.

Gian – and yea seedorf is unavaliable for this game…ancelotti mentioned about an attacking midfielder who will play between beckham and pirlo..this i think rules out flamini…but u never know…janku will play in the mid field…favlli is suspended …yipppy….zambro probably will play on the left and antonini on the rite…senderos will partner either maldini or bonera…..i hope flamini is selected over emerson…

I think its worth trying to team up Pato with either Shev & Vuidez now and keep Pippo in reserve for subs
Gian, i thought that Becks made quite a good impact when he joined the squad and his dip in form recently i attribute to Carlo’s over reliance of him (again Carlo demonstrating here his habit of just sticking with what he knows and running a player into he ground) Becks aint as young as Carlo seems to think
Lol, yeah it was Syed on the last post who was scouting out Abate but ive been doing a little scouting of my own today, namely Zapata and would LOVE to see this guy sitting alongside Silva.
I dont know if its only because of the scars inflicted by some of our own defenders comical performances but Zapata just seemed plain like he knew what he was doing and it was good to see him bullying opposition players (something i havnt seen our defenders do in a looooooong time)

true avia…but this also puts some pressure on us….we now need to win tomorrow to keep up with it…i still have some hopes that we can finish 2nd..we still have a game against juve….but i guess i am being too optimistic…

don’t worry about it, syed. 3rd gets directly into the CL group stages next year apparently, so no real difference

ure rite alessio…..it makes no real difference…but it does do something to our honour…our dignity….which apparently has been lost even if we are sitting 3rd…such is the condition that we are now jus hoping we qualify for CL…..but i guess anything wud do to get back into CL…

Roma drew and Genoa lost. This is the prefect opportunity to get a gap between us and the chasing pack. Plus Atlanta are likely to miss Doni and Floccari,so there is a chance. I pray our defense plays well.

i think this year has been different because we’re not in the CL. i rekon that when we get back in2 teC that we will play completely differently. Now we just feel empty without and it and not able to take pride in winning the league… i think, not sure though

Beckham as trequartista? Why not Pirlo instead, he has a better shot on goal from outside the box in open play and is just as slow.

A – lol, right now, i’d say Becks is playing just that bit better than Pirlo and plus pirlo is complete a push over when he has ball so i’d rather see becks than pirlo as trequartista even though the idea itself is kinda crazy

damn it, i thought for some reason the game would still be at 9am. now i have to wait 2hrs til the game.
about the Beckham deal. im not completely against, for this season yah we need him. next season, no. but having his as “timeshare” cant hurt, again if he’s not fit he wont play. id rather see many other players start instead of his next season.
