Pato – I have seen several young players get lost in their fame. I hope Milan will protect him about it. In a few years, he can be the best player of the world if he keeps his focus on soccer.

You are way too skeptical if you don’t think Pato lived up to the hype. His too misses from point blank range were very lucky saves by the keeper.
Pato on the field opens up tonz of space that Gila could only dream of opening up. I’ll ride this kid & say that although he will go through some rough patches he will absolutely live up to the hype.
His talent is enormously apparent and his mental fortitude was proved to be just as enormus when he scored his goal dispite missing the earlier sitters.
In contrast when Gila misses, I have NO confidence that he will score at all for the remainder of that game. He has proven not to be mentally strong.
At 18 Pato has shown EMMENSE signs of being GREAT!

I wasn’t going to comment b/c I couldn’t add anything that hasn’t already been said, but Gianfranco- my coffee went flying through my now when I read your quote from Rocky 4. Well done!

Yes, I too was choked up when he kissed the badge on his shirt. It made everything alright after the two goal comment. Just think what the papers/websites/forums would look like if he HADN’T scored that goal. I’m happy for him, I’m happy for me, I’m happy for us, I’m happy for Milan!

Ro thanks for the pic it will be in the next non-maldini monday post. As for Gila we keep him because side by side with Pato will mean great things, they are complimentary strikers Pato on the ball and Gila off, it is so exciting to me.

i agree k, i feel like (or at least i hope) gila will do a lot better in our spiffy new-not-so-new 2 striker system, where he’ll get more of the service he needs. the competition for places in all positions is going to be interesting, especially in midfield. Rino was noticeably lacking, so him and Ambro are probably going to duke it out. we’ll see how Carletto works it all out.

hahah thats pretty funny ro…

lets not throw gila out yet… i think it will be interesting to see how he does when he is consistently playing with a second striker… a lot of fixtures are comin up and he will have plenty of chances to finally come good… but if he doesnt, he will probably be gone by the summer…
