Milan 1 - Siena 0

Forget Pato, say hello to PALOSCHI!!!

null

OK maybe I am getting a little overzealous here, but you have to say scoring a goal in less then 30 seconds on the pitch on his first touch of the ball is pretty freaking impressive. Even that moment of joy from everyone does very little to overshadow what was a very, very, very poor showing today. I understand a lot of the squad was seeing action for the first time in a while but that is not excuse for poor defending, poor choice of shot, and just plain sloppy.

The real guilty guys are Janks, Bonera, Ronaldo, and Cafu. It is important to note though in all the crap there was some good showing from Ambro and Seedorf. Seedorf did well enough to make a difference today but was definitely a victim of trying to hard. Paloschi came on like a shot but fizzled in the end, he instead should have dominated especially with Siena down to ten men. There is no excuse for a team like Milan to not score a finishing goal when a team like Siena is overstretched and down to ten men. It scares that they can not get the knockout blow.

Kalac has got as firm a grip on the number spot as you can get, and there is not argument from me. I am not his biggest fan but his playing his way into my good graces one amazing save at a time. Even if Kalac is not your future number one, who in my opinion he is not, there is no way Dida should be on this squad at the start of next season.

I always need to remind myself that 3 points is 3 points, but why does each game have to be an epic battle when they could be easy wins. Carletto looked confused today and his substitutions were questionable. It will be interesting to see if Nesta is OK, or was just rested, but the tactical mindset should change during this injury crisis. A midweek fixture with Livorno will prove another valuable game and a different formation featuring Gila, Paloschi, and Gourcuff may prove successful. Then again playing for a successful win seems to be out the mindset of Carletto.

15 seconds into his debut to be exact ;) Sexy shot by Paloschi and gorgeous assist by Seedorf.

Erm. Yeah. Our defense was more than a little suspect throughout the match. Ambro had to cover them plenty of times (and did a fine job of doing so). Come to think of it, just about everyone that wasn’t a defender did most of the defending today. I’m not quite sure what the problem is back there, I’m hoping it gets sorted out soon though.

I already said it once, but Pirlo is a heart-stopper. That I love very much. The end.

    Kalac was a beast too.

100% with you on that Gianfranco.

The main worry for me is defence, as soon as the oppostion breach the backline it just turns into a farce, our defending is comical, the only reason we get away with it is due to a killer finish from the opposition. I mean Frick could have scored at least 3 times today ( if he was good enough!)

The first change i want after the summer is a more definite back line, remember we wont have Maldini so our defense will be further weakend anyway. The only defender of any merit imo will be Nesta and he’s getn on abit also.

Goddamn it, isnt Baresi in charge of defensive coaching at Milan? Coz i know he must be horrified with some of our performances this past season.

Even though not all of them played today, Bonera, Favalli and guys like Brochi feel like bit-part players who never contribute to the team as much as the player they are replacing!

Sorry for the mini rant - i enjoyed todays win, but want more definitive victories that a team like Milan should be claiming week in and out.

Exactly, we’ve been saying “a win is a win” quite too often lately.
Pirlo was just amazing today, his foot is made of pure gold. Seedorf, Brocchi, Ambrosini & Pippo also played pretty good. What a debut for Polaschi, first touch in his serie a career, literally, and he scored a goal. Looks very promising, and i got to witness his first goal ever live :D “the new Pato” lol
Kalac was great, Dida should never ever stand between 2 posts unless its the exit gate out of the Milanello.
Defense, defense, defense!! come on, its Il Captiano’s last season, lets not screw it up for him.

We’re getting there, a win against Livorno on Wednesday will put us in 4th place and 5pts away from Juve in 3rd. we just need to focus on Arsenal, cant say much about that game at the moment.

I”m still in awe that we won…see we are always so kaka dependent that it help that we won and he wasn’t there to show us that even without him and his awsomeness we can still win…I’ll have to watch the game tomorrow to comment on the game as a whole though…

lool, you know its bad when your opponent wanted you to play instead of the first goalie. Locatelli said they wished if Dida was playing instead of Kalac. poor guy lol.

Galliani’s calling our new attack, Pa-Pa. we’re getting too much carried with the names rather than the actual game.

Hana Pirlo is the master of silk, his play is so smooth I’m surprised he works up a sweat. The goal by new boy Paloschi was quality all the way he stuck through the ball and placed it perfectly behind the keeper the old men Inzaghi and Ronaldo are going to have a fight on their hands.

After all it was quite an old lineup for Milan. We should not forget that Siena beat Roma 3:0 in their last game, so they can be dangerous at the end of the pitch. Shots at our goal were unavoidable, the art is to not let the shots in. Our defense managed that. Moreover, except for the game in Bergamo, they have been doing freaking well in not conceding. Plus, a 1:0 is a pretty sweet victory. However, I do agree that we should win with a bigger score. I just think that our midfield is not as supportive as they should be in scoring. Ancelotti fielded two strikers but except for Pirlo’s brilliant passes, there was none else to feed them with good balls. Serghinho was disappointing as well as Brocchi. I do not understand why Ancelotti is not giving Gourcuff any minutes. He could have added some creativity and pace in midfield. Ronaldo was weak, too. He did not seem to be interested in the game at all. Ambrosini fulfilled his role exceptional, Cafu played a good match as well. Maldini was out of this world again. What a player! Paloschi scored the all important goal but we should wait and see how he develops.

Well, it has been years since I saw Milan start with 4-4-2. IMO, Seedorf and Gourcuff should have been tried in the wide positions instead of Serginho and Brocchi.

Hard to tell exactly what Brocchi brings but his goal was great. The rest of the game he reminded me of a young and fitter version of Inzaghi. I.e. on the ground too much.

Ronaldo was a shadow. He is just not moving. It is sad to see but maybe he is just not fit.

Ambrosini, Pirlo and Seedorf played well I thought.

And Bonera is a cure for low blood pressure.

But the Hero for me is my compatriot Kalac. He saved Milan’s blushes really.

Thanks to Kalac long hand, Milan is now only two points away from Champions League area. Should the poor guy Dida be grateful for this or not ?

Calcio: Yes Dida should, I hate to admit.. actually i don’t, but Zeljko is simply a beter keeper.

I think theres no argument in this when you look at all the past games and compare zeljko kalac with dida, the stats point out that Kalac is better.
And you defenately cant say its because the defending has been better, because quite frankly it hasn’t been.
