The blame for today’s poor performance goes on Borriello mainly. He’s the one who had most of the chances, but failed to do anything. Kaka did well for the most part; was very lively.

I don’t think Borriello should start next game. Sheva is still rusty, so perhaps give Pippo a start (I don’t want that, but I think that’s the best option now). And bring in Pato after 60 mins or something.

Pagelle from datasport. Fairly different from Goal.coms……I havent seen the game so I cant judge.

Finalmente in trasferta riesce a farsi valere.
Inzaghi 5 - Non riesce a contrastare Esposito in occasione del gol del pareggio.

the datasport ratings always are pretty fair (with the one exception of seedorf’s in the last match) - could one of you who understand italian please help by translating - would be appreciated…
GF - just a suggestion - would it be possible to have these ratings translated for each match? francesco puts the link on the serieA page post each week’s matches and along with your analysis, would be a good wrap up of each match -

Sounds ok to me those ratings. I’m just wondering why the defense got pretty low ratings. Is it possible that being bored to death at the back worked against them in datasport’s eyes?

I mean Lecce got out of their own half about 4 times in the whole match. I think they got into the Milan penalty area twice.

i do not have much of a problem with this match except for that emerson screwup and few missed chances. This is not a incurable problem but somehow it seems incurable for us.

The defeat is totally Ancelotti`s fault. Boriello played very well, just didn`t score. The problem is in the christmas tree. Kaka wasn`t sharp enough last night and Dinho still can`t perform a decent run or a dribbling. This leaves the lone striker with two or three defenders on him. Dinho was static, leaving no space for Kaka and Boriello… Rember that Gila was a goal machine before he joined Milan and immediately after left Milan he was reborn, meaning that the problem was not in him but in Careletto`s damned christmas tree. And what was the lesson from the past season? Don`t play the christmas tree with smaller teams where controlling the midfield is not a major problem! Even more, don`t play it in away games! They put a “bus” infront of the goal and wait for the counter leaving no space.
I don`t want to lose words on “experienced” Puma.
The whole team did very well except that the system did not suit them AGAIN.
Shame, shame for those two points.

Inter is getting stronger and stronger, taking points from quasi Scudetto contenders. Those tougher games are waiting for us and there will not always be a miraculous unable to run Dinho or a generous referee. If we can`t get past the small ones then…

The tactics were OK. If Milan didn’t get many chances, then we can blame the formation, but when the chances are there and there are no goals, then it’s the players to blame. Borriello had at least 2 chances where he could have easily easily scored, and should have, considering what he did last season. Having said that, though, I think 2 strikers would have been a better option.

Dinho’s static-ness (or is it staticity?), must get resolved soon if we want to challenge on all fronts. Sure, we’re happy he’s getting goals, but we also need him to be as much of a danger man when he gets the ball as Kaka is, so there’s less pressure on Kaka.

I’m over last night, but it’s truly humiliating for a team with Kaka, Dinho, Seedorf, among others to have difficulty scoring goals against teams like Lecce. Sure, they play very defensive, but still.

@ Milams - Boriello played well but didn’t score!!!! How?

His function/job on the team IS to score. If he doesn’t do this how does he play well?

I give him a 4.0 out of 10. He played like utter garbage, there was nothing good about yesterday’s game for Boriello.

    The midfield played like champions.

Ancelotti blames the refs. I hate when we lose a winnable game because of his tactics or personnel selection and he blames the ref.

    Talk about lack of accountability.

Ancelotti should critize the refs when we win and then I might listen to his B.S about the refs when we lose. Ancelotti got what he deserved for leaving Boriello in waaaaay too long & putting in puma with the game in the balance. Then he blames the refs….fool.

    (Sigh)

Missed the match (and thankful) and sorry if im repeating myself but its exactly these kinds of performances that cost us a CL place last year and sadly if it keeps happening will def cost us the Scudetto this year.

It was way to easy to string together a good number of wins, gain top spot and paper over the cracks, only for the cracks to become evident again.

And what the hells goin on with Borriello? I dont buy the gf stories, has Carlo somehow Gila’d him??

A UEFA Cup game would be what i’d go too.

Like once we get (hopefully) deep into the knockout rounds.

Quarters, or Semis. Might be hard but it’s do able.

I think I’m gonna try and take in a game this year myself.

Hmm into the idea of UEFA, my best bet will probs be if we face Man City, mite mean sitting with the city fans again lol!

Was planning on watching Milan play against Genoa or one of the smaller teams as i feel it will be easier to get tickets for foreign fans.

BigDawg4Milan - Dinho played well becuase he scored??

You can play well by getting the 50-50 tackles on the ball, by running, being dominant in air and by creating space for others, BUT you don`t score. I am just trying to say that starting with Boriello and Pato could have been and probably would have been a different story. The team wasn`t sharp enough. Dinho was static (in attack and defensively), Kaka had too few options for his passes…

Christmas tree is killing the confidence of an attacker, i.e., he is ALONE!

    Remember Gilardino?

Question: Did you wear a Milan Jersey sitting around all those Man City fans?

I’d love to live in Europe.

a big part of the dilemma seems to focus around ronaldinho. he’s definitely not hustling as much as the other players on the pitch, but he’s making contributions in other ways (passing, scoring). he would appear to be the odd man out in a 2-striker formation, unless of course he is used as one of the strikers. (there might be a hustle-speed issue on this as well.) so what is the optimum solution? use him as a “super sub,” occasional starter, consistent starter, or what?

Fifaguy, I say it is a matter of using him when appropriate. This would mean Carletto would have to do some advanced scouting and make decision based on the tactics of the other team. Shehan has advocated it and I have seconded the notion, we need to drub small teams fast and two strikers is the best way to do that. Against big clubs the XMAS tree is OK as it gives us a deeper dimension, but when team like Lecce, Bologna, Genoa, and Cagliari will stand 10 behind the ball and defend for thier lives one striker wont cut it. What is worse is when that one striker cant find the net, changes are a must…

Why not try Ronnie as the 2nd striker paired with Pato or Boriello?

@ Milams - I agree the Christmas tree sux & Boriello should be paired with another striker.

But Ronaldinho played go because he created chances for the striker which is his primary function of himself & Kaka.

The passes that he lead up some of Boriello’s blow opportunities came through/ as a result of R80’s play. So he played better cause he fulfilled his role & Boriello didn’t.

Freakin he had a break away and touched the ball too hard and the keeper came out and smothered it.

This is one time that the Christmas Tree did work Boriello just SUCKED!!! I still think it fails to work more often than not and two strikers are necessary!!!

@ Milams - If at the end of the year Boriello has 25 assists and 3 goals would you say he full filled his role as a STRIKER?

Strikers are (primarily) supposed to score.

    KNOW YOUR ROLE!!!

We have other players to do the other stuff. (hopefully)

BigDawg4Milan - in terms of the statistics Dinho did more than Boriello but on the field I think that Boriello was more needed, just couldn`t score. It can happen to every striker. Also, Kaka wasn`t there and don`t know really if beacuse there wasn`t enough space for him or he`s not in top form right now. Him and Dinho lost some balls and there were some poor passes. Seedorf was poor, hails to Flamini, Rino and the defence. The team was not sharp enough, it should`ve been 2-0 after half time and Xmas tree did NOT work because we struggled in attack. From the day on that Sheva ran away we don`t have a distinctive striker thanks to the Carlo`s beloved formation. And yes, Boriello will not meet the expectations and will end up in Gila`s shoes if things will go on like this… And when will Pato mature, Carlo is killing two strikers at the same time! He goes from three in one game to one in other??
