Last Day, Last Hope…
By: Gianfranco | May 16th, 2008Do or die days are always much better when your fate is in your own hands. It is sad to think that at this point even a win is not enough to guarantee CL play. It is sad to think that at this point even a win is not enough to guarantee CL play, instead Milan are at the mercy of Torino and the Viola to seal their fate. Milan’s game is certainly winnable with Udinese’s season being all but sealed. The problem lies with guys like Fab Quags and DiNatale who are potentially one or two spectacular goals away from a trip to Euro 08. Expect those guys to play their hearts out because quite frankly they always do.
Milan on the otherhand are in a predicament without the services of Rino and Nesta, two of the best big game players on the squad. The potential backups include Bonera/Simic and Brocchi, unless Carletto goes wacko and plays without a midfield enforcer and using Gourcuff as an attacking option, imagine! Either way he will probably employ Pippo alone in front because well two out of three wins with that system aren’t all bad…IDIOT! Last week should have proved that a new formation is needed for this weekend, and a more offensive one at that. I do not see the importance of playing defensively when the only thing you need at this moment is a win! Maybe I am missing the point or I am insane from frustration but if your are going to lose the biggest game of the season why not do with our your guns on board?
OK, I can’t talk about the game anymore because I am slowly starting to fester a large amount of frustration inside. Other than CL finals I can’t remember a game of this magnitude, I also can’t remember a game where even with a win we need the help of others. 4th place, Carletto stays and Milan rearms with the likes of Amauri, Borriello, and a solid defender. 5th place, Carletto leaves, Amauri blows us off, Borriello comes back and Fester sells himself and the club on the UEFA cup and does all he can to attract some top class talent to come play in the junior champions league. If anyone was not nervous before you should be nervous now.
I also want to say that I am not going to sit here and dissect the season and where the club goes from here. Quite frankly I am not ready for that because the ship has not sunk, quite yet, but all hands are on deck for what is going to be the most exciting final Sunday I have ever lived through. With Chelsea captivating us last weekend, and Inter/Roma this weekend it is a great time to be a fan of football. Once the Rossoneri fate is sealed then we can begin the long arduous process of rebuilding ourselves and the club. We have been through a fair amount of stuff already in the past year, and we have plenty more to go.
FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!
One more thing, anyone remember the last has been Brazilian that Milan bought from Barcelona with delusions of grandeur? We didn’t need him and we don’t Ronaldinho!

“Purgatory” is a bit much, don’t you think?

alessio, I personally laughed at that statement. I’m not sure what Carletto was thinking. Honestly, it’s not like we’re being relegated…

I hope Milan come storming back next season for the good of Italian football. Best wishes from this Roma fan. But maybe you can feel a li’l good about the fact that you lost 4th place to a consistently good, deserving Viola. Very few Roma fans will be convinced that Inter were the clear deserving winners of 1st place. It would have been easier to accept 2nd place if Inter looked like true Champions of Italy.

“Purgatory” of UEFA cup.. Hmm, a little bit of the old Milan swagger we all know and love?

come back strong next season, Milan! I wish you all the best!

it would be pretty funny if all these allegations of inter getting help from the refs is true, and everyone gets bumped up a place as a result…
probably wishful thinking more than anything on my part

PS: Hope u had a good one yestrday Gian!!!
Got to say, Ambro & Seedorf really went for it, was a fairytale ending for Cafu also!!
A – if your reading this, Cafus time at Milan cant be considered a flop, what i meant was we got this shining star as he had already started to set and its good to see that pretty much everyone IS gona miss him, and i count myself to.
One of our fellow bloggers said it best earlier on when they said they’d miss his smile!
We went down fighting but have to say there is a bitter taste in my mouth when i think back to the number of matches this season where we dominated but couldnt kill off lesser teams.
All those moments came back today to haunt us as we slowly must have realised that a win wasnt goin to be enough.
When u look at the four in next years CL, i have to say, i still think we would have been the best to represent Italia (however, maybe not on current form?).
I hold Galliani & Carlo responsible for where we are now, i, like many of you, predicted that this is how this season would end, but if we’re stuck with Carletto next season, some decent fresh blood in the sqaud over the summer will soften the blow.
U cant consider yourself a supporter of Milan really if u r gona turn your backs on the team just coz we’re in the wooden spoon competition! I have genuinely watched this team go through worse! The ‘96 era!!
It will be good to be aiming for the Scudetto next season!!! and to see the merda have to actually win the league next season, i even want to see Juve bolster their squad for 08/09 for a proper scrap between us and them for the Serie A title.
Would have loooooved to have seen Roma win it tho.
Forza Milan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi everyone, i’m new to this site …
i believe in the wake of this season, next year’s squad is gonna have a great amount of determination to win the scudetto.
we MUST NOT let inter catch up, even though 2 of their’s are paper scudetti, they’re only 1 behind milan now.
MILAN PER SEMPRE, FORZA ROSSONERI!!!Posted from

PS: Knowing how much we had to win this match Carlo’s first half tactics where complete amateur and totally shocking!
The first half typifies the mistakes Carlo has been making ALL season, glad to see he had a “lightbulb” moment of genius and decided to put Pato on! Dick!!!
Our very own Fetyani has better ideas of how to use this squad, when the Milan Offside DO take over im putting him in charge of squad detail and picking the lineup.

Akram – With Milan, Juve and Roma adding to their squads for next season i cant think of when they would ever win another scudetto (unless the sign Mourinho!).

Well we might not have made the CL but it was a good effort.. this just shows galliani how hard he will have to work in the offseason to build a better team… not that this wasn’t evident before.. I just hope with us missing the CL that some great players will not be reluctant to sign with us.. the only reason i want italy not to win the euro now is so that Donadoni gets the boot and carletto will stand in to take his place leaving us with mourhino or rikjard whom i would both love to see on the milan bench… till next year..
FORZA MILAN PER SEMPRE

Just want to say thanks for the bday wishes and to apologize for my absence today. As you may or may not know I was celebrating my 25th bday and lets just say that this morning, and most of today, was not all that manageable. It felt like a bus was parked in my head, I did watch Milan, but my eye was on the Viola, a good game and a nice way to the end the season, but we all know how the story ended. Be back tomorrow for Maldini Monday and Tuesday for some recap action.

“Roberto Mancini refused to speak to the media after Inter’s Scudetto triumph, fuelling rumours he is ready to walk away.”
What the hell? Haha, I’m sorry, but your team just effing won. Honestly, Ancelotti had the guts to say that we didn’t deliver after we were put in UEFA (In a rather amusing sensationalist style, but that’s a whole ‘nother matter completely) Mancini is acting like he’s two.

oh here’s some comments“Inter? They deservedly won the Scudetto, but I don’t feel a complex of inferiority towards this team. I remind everyone that in the past season the Nerazzurri were Italian Champions and we were European Champions. This year they repeated themselves in Italy and we became World Champions. I don’t want to belittle anyone, but my very personal opinion is that I would never exchange two Scudetti for a Champions League and a World title made by galliani, made me laugh should i remind him that we won those trophies like early december 07.
