From the Guardian

The Milan captain, Paolo Maldini, insists that Carlo Ancelotti has the full backing of his players to remain at coach at San Siro.

Ancelotti has one year left on his contract with Milan but there has been constant media speculation in Italy and England that he will be in charge of Chelsea by the start of next season.

“We are all hoping Ancelotti will stay,” said Maldini. “With him in charge, the group has been really good. We have won so many titles and our quality of life with him has been great. But in order to go forward, there needs to be three parties that want it: the players, the coach and the club.”

Ancelotti joined the club in 2001 and is the longest-serving manager in Serie A. However, Milan have endured another disappointing league season despite not having the usual pressures of Champions League football this season.

The Rossoneri suffered an early Uefa Cup exit and also never mounted a serious challenge to Internazionale in the race for the Scudetto. Their city rivals won the title for the fourth consecutive time.

Still not sure what to make of all this…

Deco can go to Inter. We dont need another 30+ guy.
My only fear is that Leo will be a puppet coach for Berlu.
Expect Dinho to be in the starting lineup a lot more. I hope this team is not run by Berlu. That wont be good.

Good! He might actually get a fair chance to prove himself. Shame on the haters…

4-4-2? After Pirlo, Dorf, Kaka and (possibly) Ambro leave, before any new players in, it might be

    Boriello – Pato

    Antonini – Flamini – Rino(C) – Zambro

    Janks – Silva – Nesta – Bonera

    Kaka and Ambro won’t leave.

Im happy for Pirlo to leave cos he’s 30 now and he hasn’t been able to compete at a high level over a large part of the season for a fair few seasons now and if we get rid of him we can fit Ronnie in easier cos you can just play DM behind him and Kaka.

If I was playing Milan in 4-4-2 next year without new players I would go for

    Borriello-Pato
Ronnie roaming in high left part of pitch
Kaka roaming in high right part of the pitch
    Gattuso and Flamini as DM
    Janks-Silva-Nesta-Zambrotta

So close to what Malih suggested

Paolo Maldini hangs up his boots after winning seven Scudetti, five European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, five European Super Cups, one Coppa Italia, five Italian Super Cups and one Club World Cup. In all competition, including internationals, he has played 1,041 matches.

Malih, where is Dinho in your formation?
do you think Berlu gonna let Leo roll out that kind of team while Dinho available on the bench? :-)

    and kaka is not leaving

@myu: I think Dinho should do well altering between Antonini position, or Pato’s in my previously mentioned formation.

I just don’t think Dinho is a winger, he’s not that pacy or ‘dribbly’ (anymore), IMHO… he plays best in center as through-ball feeder for the striker and scoring occasional screamer.

Against Roma he was dribbling like a maniac, he still has it in him if Leo’s good enough to get it out of him. Plus he doesn’t have to be fast or a good dribbler to be a winger as long as his crosses are good, especially considering a FB haven’t been great crossers of the ball for awhile now

Did you watch the game A? Did you see Zambrotta running his arse off defending like a champ and being an important part of the lead up to the first goal? Champion preformance from the evergreen fullback!
Did you also see Flamini bossing the midfield? He was fantastic, one of the only players in our team who moves into space when he doesn’t have the ball. Definitely a midfielder that kid…

I did see the game, Pat, and agree Zambrotta was excellent. This was his best game in the second half of the season. I just seriously doubt that he can play at that kind of level consistently. I would love to be proven wrong but it would be ill-advised of Milan to put all their eggs in one basket, so to speak.

Avia – i saw that and i was really pleased to see SOME change in formation…man its already getting me excited…. yesterday seeing nesta was soooo relieving and then gatuso…. nesta with silva would be just great… also remember maldini mentioned that silva is a great defender but will need some one experienced by him … nesta would be way better than favalli by his side :-p…

Favalli is a lot better than Khaladze if alongside fast defender like Silva, of course as second choice in case Nesta is injured.

I just hope Nesta isn’t as prone to injury right now, like Ambrosini who got injured all the time, but since around 2006 he’s been solid.
