I never hated him. I hope he stays. Carlo said that Milan had found the right balance without Ronaldinho. That means Ronnie wont start much in the future. I am praying for a Man. City bid. It would be heavenly.
Seedorf plays like crap. One player who I feel could take his place is Luka Modric. The guy is a good passer, and will be more dynamic.Posted from

@J that’s the beauty of being a cynic: you either get constantly proven right or you get pleasantly surprised

damn, slept thru the game….strange the way the comments during the game do not reflect on the ratings after the game! from what i read on the earlier post, we had a hellish first half and lazio could have scored a couple then….
happy with the win but it means we are now going to stick to the same favalli, senderos, pirlo, beckham, seedorf combination thruout and i dont see that working for long – seedorf is completely crap this season (regarldess of his couple of assists), pirlo still not in complete form and becks not fit enough to play 90 mins week in and week out with a mid-week fixture starting march….this is of course based on all matches except yday’s but ur comments seem to indicate the same…
how was bonera’s play after such a long layoff?Posted from

abbiati again seems to have put in a world class performance, really difficult to believe now that he was supposed to be out third choice goalie at the start of the season!

no, i didnt hate Beckham but im hailing him now, i was actually surprised to see that we kept a clean sheet. Marvelous assists from Golden balls but how about Pato’s finish? epic stuff! and its good to see Kaka hit the back of the net once more.

I liked Darmian. He had one nice clearance, and looks pretty confident. I hope Ancelotti gives him 305 seconds next time!

i dont think we should overrate abbiati’s performance. he kept a clean sheet and did his job. but there was that one zarate shot that nearly slipped under his hands right after pato’s goal.
abbiati is known for these high profile blunders, we were lucky the ball didnt slip under him into the goal. i think this is why he has never been a ‘world class’ gk, and has always remained a ‘good’ gk.
you can say i’m being too picky, but thats the only way to judge a gk.

I have to admit, Gianfranco, that you were right on both accounts: Beckham and Ronaldinho. I bow to your superior knowledge.
We look a different team with Goldenballs and without Ronnie. Maybe Ronnie can adjust to a different role in the team. He needs to, if he wants game time.
And I’m really hoping Gourcuff comes back to replace Seedorf, although that is looking less and less likely.

One of the main reasons we’re doing better than last year is Abbiati. Take him out and you’ll find out we would not be winning so many games.

Regarding the injuries along with suspensions and the fact that Lazio is not in their best form right now, this was one of the best performances from Milan this year. Determination throughout the pitch, solid defence and creativeness in attack. Everyone contributed to this win. For me, the man of the match was Abbiati! Great saves. Zarate wanted to out run him, but lion Abbiati roared: “Not in this house!”
It was nice to see that the match was sealed before the last 30 minutes of play and that Carletto didn`t even had to intervene with his “smart” subs, also that Darmian got his few minutes.Posted from

ancelotti get seedorf out and let gourcuff come in please u bastard. it would be a improved edition to the squad. why dont we start to play dinho from now i think he has got the message, sitting on cold bench for nearly a month now. dinho the lazy prick should prove himself when he’s given the chance from now.

@ Shehan – “abbiati is known for these high profile blunders”
If you google image search ‘high prfile blunders’ all you get is pics of Dida!
And……..’we were lucky the ball didnt slip under him into the goal.”
Please try to keep in mind that had it been Dida or Kalac last nigth it WOULD have been a goal!

I’m guessing from the lack of posts during the game itself and the comments here, none or very few of the contributors watched the game, they just watched the 1 minute of highlights on youtube? A couple of you mention favalli – he didn’t play. The first half was shockingly bad. two goals then put paid to lazio as did some incredibly bad officiating. Abbiati kept milan from a four goal deficit at the break. Pirlo and seedorf were god awful. Kaka was poor, barely involved in the first half. I won’t comment on Beckham as the after-timers here seem to have a hardon for him (yeah he looks brilliant on youtube). Zambrotta was very good, can’t really fault senderos or Bonera either. Apart from Abbiati the only milan player above average was Pato.
you should watch the matches.

I was too busy watchn to comment Fadayn.
But u cant deny that Becks is linkin up sweetly wiv Pato, as great as Pato is coming along im sure the service from Spice boy is a contributer.
Also, i felt kinda ill when i heard that Senderos & Bonera were teaming up, but somehow they didnt totally screw up (too often!) but imo that was thanks mainly to Abbiati.

LAZIO VS AC MILAN MATCH SUMMARY.
The line is a little bit frustrating for me,to see Seedorf in the starting eleven is not making any sense.I am upset with Seedorf’s performence last week and I only hope for much better form from him.Favalli have to be replace with Danielle Bonera after he pick up an injury at warm up session. The same line up shows how Carletto newest formation is delivering to his expectation and this formation that includes right winger(Becks) have blossom quickly.Jankulovski playing at leftback is limiting his contribution to the team overall performence,I honestly feels he can perform a lot better if Carletto let him play at the left flank.Becks as usual gave his best in attacking and defending,he shows full commitment to us and I say keep him at Milan. No doubt about his contribution have lift the team spirit.
Janku almost scores in the early minutes of 1st half but his shot is saves by Lazio’s goalkeeper,he make great run from the left flank that gave us the fisrt shot of the match.Zarate looks very dengerous especialy when he plays a one two pass with Pandev, while in defending Ladesma is doing great in blocking any run from Pato and Kaka.He stop Kaka’s shot in first 10 minutes and making the job to beat them even harder.Becks is doing the crossing and the defending amazingly well at the right flank helping Zambrotta in the same time.Zambrotta is definately the best defender in this match when in numerous occasion he stop Zarate,Pandev and Meghni attacks.Lazio is playing a pressing game in the 1st half and pressing the less fast players like Becks and Pirlo who is the heart of the midfields.
The first 30 minutes is clearly dominated by Lazio,Pandev almost broke the deadlock in the 34 minutes but brilliant saves by Abbiati deny his effort.Kaka at the first 30 minutes is being over power by Ladesma while once again Lazio almost score this time with Zarate but once againt stopped by Abbiati. The domination shows by Lazio is useless after Pato from Becks cross scores great goal that adds to his goals tally.Kaka initialy start the move that see us leading 1-0 in the 1st half.
Seedorf poor first is really getting me angry and I wish for Carletto to replace him with Ronnie or Flamini but he still there in 2nd half and continue dissapointing us with string of miss passed and it almost like we are playing with 10 players.I don’t see any direct contribution from him and it only gets worst as the game proceed. The starts is unbeliveable when Becks’s freekick meet Ambrosini head at far post of Lazio left hand side and into the beck of the net.Kaka continue his red hot form by scoring the 3rd goals in 83 minutes, his mazy run outclass the Lazio defend and with calm he score his 10th goals of the season. He have evolve from an attacking midfielder to a second striker in this new formation and I really feel this have suit his style.Carletto have obviously build the team around him and it added to his confidence boost so far.
Abbiati have been the new heroes at goal for us and together with Sanderos,Bonera and Zambrotta they combined well to exacute Carletto’s strategy.Sanderos have shown a little bit of maturity since his moves from Arsenal and with 2 players providng the goods from midfields that’s Becks and Pirlo we have the best midfields partnership.Becks and Pirlo is like two superb quarter back that supply pin point passed to the attackers we have.Seedorf have been dissapointing for us and i don’t want to talk about that anymore. We played a true itallian style of football, nothing too flsahy but effective enough to win the game week in week out.
Next match I hope we will display a miles better showmanship than this week and I hope to see more of Pato playing like a true mature superstars. Its not like he is not great for us but he in a few occasion shows his weakness especially in term of his first and second touch of the ball provided to him.He needs to widen his game for me. Lazio in long period of time have passed better and created equal amount of chances,in fact their passes is better than us.Later….

i could’nt believe how bad their defence was! playing such a high line against 2 of the best and fastest players in seria a is suicide, but im not complaining cos milan were not that good and the 3 points means the title race is coming along nicley condsidering the derby is in 2 weeks and inter dont look impressive.

it wasn’t so much the position of the lazio back line i think, but rather their propensity to use the offside trap. and it worked on pato all but two times, one of which ended up in the back of the net because beckham broke forward (actually, he looked about a foot offside on replay). personally, my policy is that when there’s only one striker against two central defenders, you don’t need trickery to put the hurt on him. i think they went with that strategy because pato attacks from the sides; he can’t play off the shoulder very well (yet), nor is he fast when he is actually in possession of the ball (if you look at his little breakaway, he kicked the ball far ahead so he could run at full speed and when he looked back down to dribble the keeper had it). this inabilty to get open is actually a weakness dunga mentioned publicly in not so many words, and i think it’s part of the reason pato plays the wings so much in order to get open. nothing wrong with that, seeing as he consistently scores in half his games, but it makes it a strategy that can be used by the opposition. on the other hand the lazio offside trap utterly failed against kaka, who was having an off-day luckily for them.
re: beckham, i think he’s a revelation. he’s playing the gattuso/flamini position very well, winning balls and sacrificing his body. i’m impressed with his work rate more than his passing actually. he has played three games in a row that prove he deserves to start over flamini, and more importantly he has a very good understanding with zambrotta in terms of overlap when he drifts right.
re: abbiati, that one mistake was because he overjumped it. i was a goalkeeper and that’s something that happens on hard shots like that. if it’s coming in fast like that and you can’t get a read on the spin, you basically have no depth perception so it appears like the ball is travelling left. i actually think it’s a testament to his skill that he made up for that mistake despite a poor read (it was definitely not a good read). still, if you want to write an essay on milan still being in the running at this point, abbiati is in the opening paragraph. while i think dida and kalac are good goalkeepers, abbiati has made saves that kalac would never reach and that dida would probably fumble.
as for pirlo, i thought he performed alright in contrast to some other opinions here. no, it wasn’t a standout performance because he only had two or three amazing passes none of which ended up in the net, but he distributed the ball efficiently with short passes laterally to his boys’ dominant feet, etc. a lot of his ambitious passes ended up as turnovers, but you can’t really fault him for that too much because he’s expected to do this. what i’m saying is that he played more like makelele than xabi alonso last match, which of course is rarely recognized. the fact that he didn’t split the defense and gave the ball away a fair bit comes second to this.

@ Fadayn “you should watch the matches.”
It’s wrong to assume that we didn’t watch the game…because I never miss a Milan game. In my case I give a play-by-play at a forum I belong to so that’s why I wasn’t commenting.

fadayn, those are bold comments considering many of us watch the match more than once. Though you are correct in your assesment of the first half it is fair to say that by your words you seemed to have forget that the match is 90 minutes and only watched 35?
